Weather Shields

Postby Trilo on Fri Oct 29, 2010 10:48 am

I was looking at getting a set of weather shields and only seem to see the slimline ones so my questions are :?:
1. Are there standard ones and/or only the slimline types ?
2.If there are 2 or more types which is better ?
3. Do the slimline ones stop rain coming in with the window down ?
4. Are the Mitsubishi ones the same size as ones on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com.au/WEATHERSHIELDS-S ... 521wt_1141

Thanks :D

They're similar to mine..... Do help in light misty weather but not 100% in heavy rain. OK if the window is only down an inch or so. Better than nothing. They do look good too. :D
I'm not aware if full profile shields are available.

When I got my Misubishi ones fitted (a few years back) they were only available for the front windows ...

Yeah they are pretty much the same as the Mitsy ones. They prob are the Mitsy genuine ones? I just got the new 2010 GLXR and I got the front weather shields and fitted them. They are great. Always good to have them. But being slimline you can't have the window down as far in the rain. And they do look good. Better than big fat ones IMO :D

I have the slim line ones on mine,(Ebay job) they do well at stopping light rain and spray.
I have to agree with Willee, they do look better than the big ones.

Hmm mine have been on almost since i got the car in January last year and don't show any signs of coming off unless u deliberately pull on them(they still take a bit of force tho!), but it is double sided tape so it wont last forever...

Goddammit I wanted those wheels on my triton and no one would sell em to me.
Wrong offset or something for a triton.
I had them on my pootrol and loved em.
Do you have any scrubbing issues with them?

Does anyone know if the ebay rear weather shields will match the genuine Mitsubishi front ones?
Like will they look out of shape or maybe be a different colour?

I want to get the rears but there is no such thing as genuine Mitsi ones

Weather Shields....who uses them? What are the pros & cons?

Postby AussieAnth on Thu Sep 25, 2014 2:54 pm

I found a thread that briefly discusses Ebay vs Factory weather shields, but it doesn't really go into detail about how they perform, etc.
http://www.newtriton.net/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=6599&hilit=weather+shields

So, who's using them?
Clear, Smoke, Dark?
Factory, ebay, somewhere else?
Front windows or rear also?
Benefits?
Drawbacks?
issues?

I got factory ones. I get them on all the cars I have owned. Mainly because I smoke and it stops the ash blowing back in the car. Thats about all there good for I reckon.

Howdy AussieAnth

I have a non genuine smoke colour standard deflector on the drivers side front only. I like driving with my window down and the deflector keeps the wind out and minimises the wind noise when the window is open. I do get a little wind noise from it not enough to worry about. One issue I have is it limits what type towing mirrors can be fitted when towing the caravan. The mirrors that clamp on between the window and the bottom of the door sit too far back away from the deflector towards the centre pillar causing the need to turn the head excessively to check what's behind.

Had them many a time in the past, as I was a Smoker but no longer. I don't really like driving around with the air con on, so I prefer the window down. Unfortunately during rain the water just pours in as the wipers wipe to the drivers side, so I do use them.
