I don't think 'throttle lag' is an accurate description of the issue. It's just a characteristic of a small capacity turbo diesel. Until the engine revs build up a bit from idle, the engine doesn't produce much power or torque.
There is no variable throttle in an MQ diesel, just the throttle plate which closes on engine shut down. The accelerator pedal is simply a potentiometer which sends a message to the ECU. There isn't any lag between pushing the pedal and the message getting to the ECU. If you want to take off quicker, you just need to push the pedal down quicker and/or further, or installing a pedal amplifier like the windbooster will have a similar effect.
Regardless of what you do with the pedal however, you won't overcome the turbo lag. It is just how these small turbo diesels work.
