Aerial replacement and headliner removal

Postby Porterpainter on Sat Feb 06, 2021 8:20 pm

Hi all,

New here, so thanks in advance for any help.

I’ve got a 2017 triton and I’m in the process of replacing the radio for the newer 2018 version with apple play. As part of this the Ariel needs to be replaced it seems.

Can anyone provide a guide to removing the headlining? Particularly the steps for the b pillars and c pillars?

Any tips gratefully received.

Thanks
Andy

B pllar trims? Just unclip the lower trim after removing the foot plate scuff panel. Unbolt the upper panel, the bolt is under the SRS badge. Then lower the seat belt height adjuster right down which will allow you to rotate upper trim by 90 degrees.

Aerial replacement for a radio replacement?

Does the new radio have more than AM & FM?

Is there satellite reception?

Just swap your radio and don't disturb anything else. You should be able to test out the radio reception before fully installing the new unit.
Don't let the b'strds get you down!!

Hi guys,

Many thanks for the replies. @dibbydibbydj I was worried about their being an airbag in there that I might trigger!

@rhktriton I wish it would be a straight swap but the aerial is different between the two models, as it’s the connections. I’m also struggling as the wiring loom has a different set up for the microphone...so I’m trying to work out how to connect that...which I think having the head lining off will help with so I can trace the wires.

Cheers
