Trying to keep low with Oz Tent on rack above the tub. Would be great to know your view on best lift kit. Think I need 2 inches for Alps and Pyrenees rocks here in Europe

So few changes. ARB canopy rack fitted, rock armour side steps and brush guards, mcc rear bar, new khumo mt51 tyres (sold the Deulers as I wanted a more aggressive mixed terrain tyre)

Not too bad to be honest.

The Deulers were quiet. I have changed now to khumo mt51. They are not too noisy. Certainly louder than the Deulers but not too bad

Ordered a Runva winch. Hope to fit that once it arrives. Then I think I'm done with my mods.

This tank looks like a well built product.
Hey Mate how much did the tank set you back, did you fit this yourself?
Had any issues with the fuel gauge reading out?

The tank was easy to fit to be honest. Took about 4 hours, taking my time. The only issue I had was that my handbrake cable felt tight afterwards and was making a noise when driving so I had to loosen that a bit. Today I drove until my fuel light started flashing. I filled up at a nearby fuel station and had 10 litres left in the tank. So all good. Paid $1095 from Off Road Mega Stores, Perth.

Takes 2 people to lift it up and use a jack to raise the height so both persons can bolt in at each end. Uses all existing bolts. There is a seperate bracket to move some of the cables above the rear diff.

Click to view larger picture installed a redarc bcdc 1220 ign to charge my baintech powertop. Tried without the DC DC charger but it wasn't charging so invested in the Redarc.

G'day mate, nice looking MQ and mod's.!
About to damage the bank a/c & spend some $$ on my new MQ.
With your Ultimate Susp, how has it been now that it's settled and done few KLM ?
Also, was your setup selected by Ultimate as being for comfort/towing or beach/off road etc.
Cheers, Ray

Hi Ray. Thanks for the compliment re my truck. The Ultimate Suspension is fantastic. I did have to add an extra leaf as I changed to a canopy/ rear bar and added more weight. It drives great and tows the van fantastic. I would certainly recommend Australian Ultimate Suspension. Send Brendan an email. Tell him what you want. He will send out a form to complete. You will take measurements at various parts of the truck with and without load/van on the tow ball. He will sort you out with suspension tailored for your own vehicle. Initially I had comfort setup but added a leaf and to be honest it doesn't feel hard at all as I have more weight on the back now. I had bilstein/kings on my FJ cruiser and I must say this is as good a ride.

Sandstorm76,
how did you fix the batterybox to the ute/uteliner? I'm thinking of a very similar setup, maybe in the back left hand side corner and wondered how best to keep it there in place..

I attached 2 strips of wood to a wood base, the strips fit inside the ribs of the liner to stop the wood base sliding. I had the Mitsi tie downs fitted through my liner. I strapped through the tie down strips and around the wood base and my powertop battery. Works ok.

If you have other equip to secure down and can't do as Sandstorm76 did, or can't access underneath tub eg; fuel tank etc...use rivet nuts.
These can be installed from up top after drilling a hole and come in several sizes from 3mm upwards to suit various material thickness.....ideal for easy removal and reinstalling temporary equip as needed

I used rivnuts to add in extra tie downs in the tub of my MQ. There are some good pics in my build thread if you want to have a look, the stainless steel ones are the way to go if you do it as they are much stronger. I usually strap my 2nd battery down into the left corner of the tub behind the wheel arch.
