mate i have this upgrade and with my braids (not sure everyone needs them but mine certainly did) i feel it is very capable under brakes.

i have not pushed it really hard on multiple occasions yet but i had Ray Charles pull straight out in front of me and i am pretty happy with the stopping power now.
This car is like a bad drug habit. It is taking all my money and time, my family are concerned, but new mods just feel sooooooo good.

did you end up getting to the bottom of that rear brake fade?

pretty sure you were sure it was water i think but did they find anything abnormal on the swap over?

Yeah Snowie the rears were full of Geraldine mud and had next the nothing (and still do) left, waiting on Brendon to get them in and I will pick em up and fit them up here, but just imagine how it will stop once the rear shoes are fitted.

Just for your info I really needed the upgrade after Geraldine and towing that CT of mine down that MASSIVE HILL on Thunderbolts Way. Plus the numerous other trips towing ie; Cape, Flinders (some big hills here as well) and Moreton Is

Glad to hear you had a great result Trouble. I received my DBA 4000 series rotors and Bendix HD pads from Ultimate today (thanks for the great service once again Brendan). Can't wait to fit 'em now! The standard brakes are a bit wooden aren't they?
I did a brake fluid flush and bleed not long after I bought the MN and that helped a lot (the amount of air in the system was unbelievable :o ).
The voices in my head may not be real, but they do have some damned good ideas.

Thanks for the write up trouble. I'm glad you are impressed with the upgrade. Your brakes were probably the worse we have seen on a newtriton. The rears were caked in Geraldine mud and the fronts were practically gone. Here's a comparison shot with the new Bendix HDs.

The Bendix brake pads look like they would be an upgrade on their own .... are they bigger ?? or is that an optical illusion ??

ahh you finally did it trouble 8-) this upgrade is brilliant!
have 15K on mine now and still jumping on the anchors daily from city jumpers and taxi drivers :roll: without this upgrade they would wear my triton by now :lol: (look b4 you cross pedestrians fkn sydney :roll: )

MN Caliper upgrade

Hello been on here but never posted, I also did a search and cant find anything

has anyone done a Caliper upgrade on a MN 2.5 ?

I was thinking that the 380 ( magna ) Calipers might fit , as they are twin piston

or

the Pajero 3.2 NT as they are 4 piston

Ive found on the DBA web site that the rotors sizes are:
Pajero : 332 x 28
Challenger: 295 x 28
Triton: 295 x 28
380: 294 x 28

Never though of the Magna as a choice for calipers- good thinking though.

The NP pajero I believe has twin piston and very similar disc size.
Is a project I was going to get around to one day in the near future.

The Magner is an interesting choice. I'm keen to see the outcome of this. Upgraded Calipers and larger rotors would help a lot.

It's not impossible to change the rears but it's lot of work. There are a few companies in Thailand which make questionable kits and a few in Australia which do them for mining vehicles. It does have to be engineered for street use which adds an annoying cost to the procedure. You also have to change a lot of other components like the master cylinder to cope with the increased fluid displacement caused by the new calipers.

In most cases, upgrading the front rotors and pads, brake fluid and braided brake lines makes a considerable difference. Have a look at this thread- viewtopic.php?f=56&t=7194

"you" might be able to work out if the above will fit.

just need verniers to confirm the boltholes (mounting points) are the same as the discs being so close to diameter and thickness should mean the "angle" works..... :?:

No longer a Mitsubishi technician, just a plain old boring mechanic with Mitsubishi training...

I dont think it would be to hard, but there would be alot of parts involved, as you might need different handbrake setup etc

I think its a great Idea though

mmm I didnt even think of the NM NP , I will check that out also

Trav evo 123 dont fit i tried bolt spacing to small. I also had a quick look with 4 piston paj brakes but run out of time.. dont see why they wouldnt fit tho... might need to find a set i think for testing maybe?


cheers mate, I have to get the measurements on the holes, between models also this week

that guy with no arms is a gun, I struggle with hands

I was thinking 380(magna) because there only $220 a caliper from Mitsubishi and are just as big at the stock rotors , so its would overall be a cheap changeover
