Mitsubishi trailer wiring

Mitsubishi trailer wiring

Postby damaged on Mon Jan 26, 2009 7:29 am

hey,

Having some problems with my trailer wiring, I have the genuine Mitisu tow bar fitting. Wasnt gettkng brake or tail lights down to my trailer, just LR indicators. all the lighting on the truck still works fine. Took it back to the dealer and they took me it was the fuse, and I needed to check my trailer becuase its shorting it somewhere. Which may be a possiblity because i have just rewired the whole trailer...

So thats all fine, happy to go away and check my dodgy electrical work, but where is the fuse/s for the trailer connector on the triton? As far as I can see it just plugs straight into the tail light wiring at the rear.

Any assistance much appreaciated.

Is there an inline fuse between the trailer plug and where it has been wired into the tailight harness?

Damage,
The stop light fuse is under the bonnet fuse box, Fuse # 12 and the tail light fuse is under the steering column fuse #1 LH side and #7 RH side tail lights according to the hand book. Hope this helps.

Cheers

sorry but if those fuses have gone doesnt it mean that the ute lights should be dead as well? - or are they the dedicated trailer light fuses?

Currently im still getting all lights on the ute, but no signal for brake and tail lights to the trailer.

thanks,

Mitsi trailer harness powers the stop & tail lights from the battery with an inline fuse just beside the battery.

Wrench,

I literally just got back from the dealer who showed me that. Where were you yesterday?

Thanks for the info at any rate, and for anyones future reference, wrench is right, inline fuse on a wire beside the battery.

Cheers,

Either asleep or working my a$$ off.

I fitted a genuine harness with a Haymen Reece bar. The harness was included with genuine bars (which I didn't like)
but cost a fortune on its own. I just like OE trailer harnesses.

Thank you very much for the information Damaged & Wrench, had the same problem and it was frustrating the hell out of me. The trailer would work on one vehicle but not on the Triton, could not find a fuse. Solved the problem now, once again thank you for the info.
