Perhaps I worded it obtusely. It was not about the OBD port.
It was about anyone being able to plug in a cheap device that at the moment (thankfully), on a limited level, accesses a vehicles control and diagnostic systems.
Read only great. Scan and clear codes, great as well.
In the not too distant future anyone may be able to purchase, for not a lot of money, a device that is able to drill down and, in the hands of someone 'just having a look around', manage to [censored] it up big time.
Thankfully there are many safeguards in the management systems. But, as I have said in a reply elsewhere to another post, most people don't read manuals. And that's where the damage originates.
Anyway, if I have offended anyone I apologise again. I've been an auto electrician for 38 years and seen all manner of technical [censored] ups, sometimes from those who should have known better. When some people start to play with new technology I get a shiver........
