mate i'm not pointing any fingers but this is how i saw it unfold and my opinion.

Patto had a car multiple proffessionals could not identify or fix.

Turboglide identified and fixed his car straight up and recommended and completed the EGR block. no vent.

they sound like they know what they are doing.

numerous others have blocked with no engine fault issues.

Yeah snowman - and the fact that this EGR is a new idea to reduce omissions probably just means it was a late addition with no real thought process.... how many other diesel vehicles on the market have something like this (do we know?). Has the Hilux got it?

yes eventually as emissions get tighter and tighter our diesel motors will emit a CO, CO2, CFC, sulfur, NOx, carbon, nuclear, particulates and toxin free exhaust that smells like bloody ambi-pur and sounds like gentle organ music.

My workmate has just picked up a new SR5, Ill have a look under the hood...

BTW. Has anyone looked under a hilux next to a GLX-R...? The Diff in the hilux looks like a toy compared to the Mitz... Also under the hood the toyota looks flimsy.

We are just going through the motions now... it doesnt suffer the same effects as the 3.2 so none of us have had to go down this path yet... your thread caused some of us to start asking a few questions but it doesn't appear to affect the D4D until many more klms have been done...

But what would I know... I drive a toy... :D

Well Tritoneers, I've been running with EGR blanked off for over 6k now and no probs. Thought I'd check the inlet to the manifold (where hose from Intercooler connects) and WTF there's a throttle valve!!

Looking at the articles above, one suggested that as the EGR is introduced the air intake is throttled to balance the total volume of gas into the pots. If this is so then would the blanking of the EGR also require this "throttle" to be disabled?? Any ideas?

I am assuming that if the EGR is blanked off, the ECU will still drive the manifold valve to what is programmed. To my thinking, this would cause some restriction to the inlet airflow and reduce a potential gain in oomph.

Regards
