I'm coming up for my 30000km service in just over 6 months, I'm on the capped pricing which is $580 but a mechanics up the road can do it for $280 log book stamped. Would they have to use genuine parts as well to keep my warranty or is log book stamped enough?

I believe under Australian consumer law that as long as the work is performed by a qualified mechanic and parts used are suited to their use, a manufacturer has to honor any warranties. The only potential out the manufacturer might have is that little 'once a year visit' and possibly missing a date with a MUTT.

I've always reverted to self service after the first couple of dealer services, once I'm confident its a keeper, at least I know what's been done. I recently cracked 190k in my ml, without any issues.

I was always of the understanding that any qualified mechanic could service / stamp your service book, but, to maintain warranty you needed to use genuine parts? Wouldn't be the first time I've been wrong though

I've recently tried to claim on my 10 year drive train warranty, the dealer refused stating part of the terms and conditions of the warranty extension was that it had to be serviced by the dealer.

Here you go, mate. Just copy and paste to the appropriate spots. Save and use for next time when that keyboard doesn't work.

John Cadogan has a good video on this matter: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9g5FKrLw_cs

He says you don't need to use genuine parts but as long as those parts are intended for your vehicle it's fine. AKA, a Ryco filter for a Triton will keep your factory warranty.

Where you might get caught out though is with extended or dealer warranties, which after the factory warranty expires have different terms and conditions. My 2015 MN has an extra 3 years dealer warranty after the 5 years factory warranty, but I wont be eligible for the dealer warranty because I take my ute to an independent (capable) mechanic, but my factory warranty is maintained under ACCC rules.

Do you have any EGR / intake sooting issues that everyone worries about?

Yes, i noticed a lot of oil in the intake manifold at the 15000km service and then fitted the provent catch can. My other two Mq tritons had the catch cans fitted straight after picking them up from the dealership.

Just heading towards 1500km service after 2 weeks. As you'd hope no issues, the lag s interesting to adapt to having been getting around in a falcon ute for the last few years! Been bush twice , nothing hard as most fun tracks closed and I've been solo, but been through lederderg and wombat and cut through Yarra range, labatouche and a bit of bunyip on my way home from lillydale yesterday. As per another post my issues are with an underperforming suspension lift, which I'll get sorted, the GLS MQ. Is going great!

83km (of which 68 are mine).

Compared to my MK GLS with 287,000km it's a fricken Bently with a tub.

I've clocked over 55k do far and no problems at all.
Just had the front pads replaced yet on mob I've beek to say the rears are at 20% and where I got the fronts done say the rears will last nearly as long as another set of fronts.
Has anyone else had to replace rear brakes at similar kms yet?

6500 km had it just over 3 months, no problems all running good.
Had 2nd fuel filter and catch can fitted at 500 km.
With new canopy, tray and tools for work sitting just under GVM.
Leaf springs currently sitting flat, so have booked in next week for Dobinson suspension.

Just completed the 165,000Km service on my oldest MY15 MQ.

Problems so far.

1.Got chip tuning to do a dpf delete as it was completely blocked at around 100,000Km. I can't blame Mitsu here as the driver of the vehicle had topped up oil way above the recommended level and it had even shown a 'oil level too high' error code when scanned with the Mitsu scan tool.

2. The radiator has sprung a little leak around the left side (passenger side) of the car. It is not a very big leak and hopefully, the Penrite radiator stop leak should sort that out.

Other than that, the car has been faultless and mechanically sound.

Cheers.

78,000 ks in 26 months, no issues at all, recently did some tricky 4wd tracks in the kimberly, performed like a charm, one track a full blown late model series 79 ? cruiser driver asked how i went up one track, he said he had used front and rear lockers to get up, my reply was i dont have lockers, surprised look on his face, mine is a stock standard 2016 glx twin cab with ATs.

Towing camper trailer for last 7,000 ks and averaging just under 12lt per 100 kms, based on litres and mileage records not trip computer stats. Canopy, drawers, fridge etc in back, pretty happy with economy.

Will be buying another glx soon, a cab chassis to set up as tourer.

Most underated best value 4wd ute on the market.
