Mq Factory? rear parking assist.

Postby Rhamer on Sun Mar 11, 2018 6:28 pm

I have been thinking about adding rear parking assist to my 1 week old Exceed MQ.

At first I thought they could be bought as a factory option, but now I’m not so sure.

I have found these that claim to be a genuine MQ unit, but I don’t think there is such a thing... is there?

If there is a genuine unit, does it integrate into the factory wiring? I.e is it plug and play, and does it work with the factory controls (assuming it needs to).

Lastly, is it towing aware and won’t trigger if backing up whilst towing, or detect the caravan hitch when the caravan is off the car?

Cheers

The Mitsi accessories brochure lists the rear parking assist option so I would assume that they would integrate with the MQ wiring. I don't know how they would go when reversing a caravan but I would think that a dealer should be able to advise. The accessories brochure http://mitsubishi-motors.si/wp-content/ ... _my165.pdf shows the option on page 13. I doubt that it would detect the towball but may detect the A-frame and front of the caravan.

Yes, I saw that brochure too and that’s what led me to investigate further.
I note however the MMCS is a different unit to mine and I wonder if that makes a difference.

I also have an early MQ triton at work and it has parking sensors, but I don’t know if they are factory or not.
This Triton also has a MMCS that is different again (pioneer). I set off the sensors and the beeping seemed to be coming from somewhere over the passenger side (needed a second person).

Anyway, I suspect it is an aftermarket unit, that was fitted by the dealer, but I’m still keen to hear from others that may know more.

Anybody know more about this?

Ours won't have the sensors, but we may look at adding them later and would like factory fit and integration.

Parking sensors are not listed as an option for the Triton, although individual dealers may offer an aftermarket kit.

If work is so terrific, why do they have to pay us to do it?

I stand corrected - didn't look hard enough.

Would these be difficult to fit? The genuine one with rear step bar?

Not happy with the Exceed's rear camera/display when you went for test drive ?

It was good, but the Navara did have sensors in the ST-X model, but we can probably do without them, but at half of the dealer cost they might come in handy one day.

Wife had one of these fitted to her new Corolla a few years back, not exactly sure which one it was now but couldn't fault them

I've ordered the MZ330803 kit from ebay. I'll see how it is to fit.
