Oil pump

HHi. Would like to know the location of the oil pump please. Also is it a standard gear drive pump.

It is incorporated in to the front timing cover driven by the crankshaft, and it Is gear drive type

Thanks. This would mean to change an oil pump entails pulling every thing off the front of the engine and replacing the front timing cover. Is this correct?? S**t.

To remove the timing cover you would need to remove the sump. I am unsure if the sump will come off with the engine in situ, as i havent tried. The only time i have done it is with the engine out.

To remove sump with engine in it looks like you would need to drop out the front diff.

Does a faulty oil pump sound like loud rattle if you stand over the front of the engine bay and look down between the front cover and the radiator?? This could be very important for me , please give an answer.

Never seen a faulty oil pump on a triton.

The amount of issues you have had with your car, it is either one in a million or you are paranoid.

It's got a history Dib. It recently had the front diff out too. It's had a few problems, some you wouldn't believe if I told you. Trying to work my way through it as much as I can. Thanks for your help, all of you.
