sorry homer...
(sometimes i should re-read...)
well as the chipIT guys will tell you (if they are interested in participating in a thread like this?).
many of the voltages reported to the ECU can tell (a engineer) what is SUPPOSEDLY happening...
problem is it is 1 sensor located in one part of a 'happening thing' (the engine in this case) doesnt necessarily mean that some techie at the programming end understands what is causing that 'increased voltage' so instead of 'keepin on' the engine is sent into 'safe mode/blue screen'... (we all call this limp mode or better still HILUX mode
)
Truth is mitsu are NEW to the diesel game (so are many MFG's).. Mits have gone BALLs out and given their rig a bullsh!t crazy extended warrantee period and they DONT want it to cost them the earth...
If they can pull off the odd intake manifold, recon it secretly, and send it back into the wild they will do it all day long cause that stuff is cheap...
this msg is sounding condescending... its not my intention HONESTLY!!!
its just my 10c (ok maybe 99c)
i think mits are LEARNING... they COULD ask warriors of the sport (like peugeot, isuzu, truck manufacturers and the millions of marine MFG's already going) but thats not in their (or the other MFG's) bizo plan...
i think mits tech are being conservative simply to keep their engines SAFE..
I feel they rather learn whats happening over the long term (and make their customers drive their cars in at their own expense) so that they can adjust their computers and future 'learning' of their technology...
i got my handle thru doing this kinda stuff for very large IT companies.... I am far more jaded now
as i said its just my opinion but would not be suprised of a very very close revision/hotfix for our ECU's...
chaser: i STILL really respect your interest/participation in our forum! i only wish you had the ability to SPILL......
