the new TRITON - the TRITON plan

Postby tritondan on Mon Aug 31, 2009 2:15 pm

Hi ALL

i have spent many hours and late nights reading up on all the carry ons and triton mods that can be done. this is a GREAT site. many thanks to those who take the time and experience and share it with others - like me

i have changed brands and am selling a 91gq swb patrol - very capable off road this is the part i will miss
i will take delivery of my cyber blue glxr 3.2 man triton this week. im 'older' now but im really excited and just cant wait to have it home and it will be 'all mine'

after the recent purchase of a caravan and the reduction of hard core 4wding i do i decided to go for more comfort and economy, after a quick look around there was really only one choice. all the boxes ticked and it was sorted.
after hours of reading - i have a triton plan that will take effect pretty much straight away.

the mods will include
tow bar and brake controller - of course
uhf - one with buttons on the handset
light force 240 XGT
diesel performance chip - most likely steinbauer (belive there is trouble with the dp chip brand)
air compressor
suspension upgrade of front shocks - rear shocks and air bags for towing - Pedders
tubliner
fire extingusiher - a must in my opinion
dvd headrest for the kids - it kepps em queit and then i enjoy the trip
bash plate for sump and trans
block the egr valve.
rust prevention - electronic. have not decided which brand yet.
reverse light kit.
one day will consider snorkel.

so thats about it for me. i will work out the shed thing when i have the TRITON (it deserves capital letters) and can take some pics.
im looking forward to many years with this truck and holidays towing the caravan. i might even take it onto a dirt road once the new car novelty wears off. or until i start missing real 4wding.

again thanks to all who share the experience gathered. i look forward to contributing just as soon as i think i might mknow something worthwhile sharing
its a brand new day - its a brand new life

Welcome to the site tritondan....glad to see you've put in the hard yards to find out all the good guff!

You may want to look into getting yourself a Uni Filter as well (TT220-220S) See >>HERE<<, they make a difference & will last a lot longer than the OEM P.O.C.

Anyway, enjoy the site & all the fun that comes with it. ;)
Cheers,
Adz.

G'day mate, sounds great.

How modified was the pootrail, most of my mates drive very modified shorties.

Don't discount the triton from some decent 4wding, get the right protection for the panels and they are good fun and pretty capable - especially difflocked.

You'll soon get used to the wheels up action, or the IFS salute ;)

Welcome - there is a couple of members here with DP chips, and few issues that I'm aware of 8-)

Enjoy

thanks all

i will have to look into the uni filter. i had a k&n filter on the patrol.
the patrol was not to modified as it didnt need to be - simple 2" lift and suspension work along with 33" MTX saw me go just about everywhere

can you get the factory diff lock later?

forget to mention will upgrade tyres once these are worn out - that should not take to long

i now have the blue beast - picked it up last friday and took a trip to hervy bay on fathers day

ran 8.6l / 100 so was very happy with this.

first mod was dvd headrest for kids - keeps em quiet and lets me enjoy the drive

today i fitted the towbar, brake controller and anderson plug -

theres a thread on that in general discussion.
i suppose its time i took some pics and started a shed thing
