Try VERO insurance, i am with them and just recently got a 2 inch lift, when i rang to add it to the policy, i was plesently suprised to find they added it to the list of mods with no worries and didnt charge any extra for the premium.

I have a lot of similar mods, except 265/75r16's on my play tyres, and no diff locks or bars.
RACQ took the list without issue.
I know the tyres can get me into trouble, but I generally run on the road with standard tyres anyway.
Far as I'm aware, they insured the vehicle, with the extras listed on top, without question. Keep ringing them adding more, and the premiums haven't gone up yet.

I reckon AAMI are the way to go. I have mine with them and have no issues with agreed value.

Let us know what they said if you try them :?:

Just for shit & giggles ... I went around a few insurance sites getting some quotes...

07 GLX-r V6...

added common mods - lift, bar work, stereo, roof racks etc...

Suncorp - over $1000 agreed $35700... Can't change agreed...

AAMI... $650 odd.. agreed $25,000 - can upgrade agreed to $35000 with no change in rate...

RACQ... around $700 - agreed $26000....

Why does the number change so much ?... Suncorp would be much cheaper if you do the house insurance etc...
Never argue with an idiot ... they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience ...

The odd thing is that AAMI is owned by Suncorp. Until last year Suncorp owned a fair chunk of RACQ too.

hi i pay about 100 bucks a month for my 08 vr, unfortuantly i wrote it off last friday (day after my 23rd birthday) i have an excess of $1100, still waiting for payment to be processed but...
un fortuantly i insured it as market value as it was more than what i payed for it back in may, but i had a canopy which i loved (previous owner had a tub liner and flexi glass canopy that was lined with marine carpet) and is now rooted (they dnt take it very well when u flip them on the roof a couple times).
but im definatly getting another triton. just got to find a good priced one.

Insurance Survey - who, what and how much?

Postby godzilla_rising on Mon Jul 02, 2012 2:39 pm

Hoping that I havent missed blatant topics in the searches I have done...but whenever I have tried looking for information on what people are doing for insurance I would get hits on all the trip threads and the standard disclaimers. I even looked in the Forum Directory to no avail...

So why dont we start a thread which can bring together all the information on the best (or worst) 4WD Insurance providers out there, the deals that people have and any other info that might be useful. I know it will help me out, and most likely a whole heap of other new guys (and maybe not so new guys) when it comes to information on Insurance.

Unless of course I really have missed something so blatantly obvious... :?

My insurance policy with Just car Insurance is now up for renewal...

Got a letter in the mail saying its due in Sept, I nearly died when I saw it was almost $2000! I though nope not on! Their prices have gone up!
So I have been on the phone to a couple companies, AAMI and GIO, and have filled out the Online form for Australian 4wd Insurance (DGA Insurance Brokers). Already had the first 2 quotes come in at almost $500 cheaper! :o Thats partway to my next mod!
Anyway, GIO told me they don't insure for 4wd parks. Not that it bothers me because there aren't any in Vic, but why won't these places insure you in a 4wd park?

And obviously the risk is different. More chance of accidental damage doing hard core 4wding than a quick drive to the local shops I would have thought.

Yeah... just thought you might have been trying to get a hold of him lol...

I wonder if anyone here has actually made a claim for damage done off road (rolled the truck, smashed a window etc)... Well maybe not window, cause I get a free window claim each year lol

How well did the claim go down? Did they try and screw you around?
