So am I right in assuming then that the MN GLX-R no longer has the hard cover lid? It looks like it doesn't even come with a soft cover - WTF is up with that???

I think possibly the lack of hard cover and lack of some of the other standard items is to make the basic price low.

What other standard items Bill?

From my perspective, everything about the MN is all-good except for the longer tub. It's funny, in all the reviews I have read over the past 3-4 years the reviewers comment about how small the tub is compared to the Hilux etc but I have never read owners complaining about this?

To me, the Triton was the best option because is sacrificed a tiny bit of space in the tub for more space in cab and it did it without being overly long. All the other complaints they seem to have addressed but I just reckon the tub size issue wasn't a "real" complaint. I would have preferred they leave it alone, but I guess their marketing department knows more than me, huh?

bammo,

i agree some very good stuff in the new one. cant wait to see one in a dealer yard and have a look even though i wont be purchasing - just interested.

with regards to the tub i can assure you when you are trying to fit something in and it misses by 50mm you wish you had a bigger tub   but the reality of having kids in the back far more often, outweighed this for me. it is always the same - you dont think about the stuff that works (such as excellent class leadng leg room for rear seat passengers as they are happy) but whinge when something doesn't fit in the slightly compromised tub. i would be interested to know how other families go on longer travels with kids in the back of the competitiion, and i am not bagging the lux's as they were the next best in this dept. some of the others were a joke - as were the early model tritons.

in any case the commercial dual cabs have probably advanced in technology and comfort more than any other model car in the last 5-10 years in my opinion.

if i was single (no kids), or a tradesman, or regularly used a motorbike etc. i probably would not consider the ML double cab triton........but with wife and three kids it was the best choice. i have to say i am still a bit dubious about the new truck heavily laden and how it handles, irrespective of stability control, it is going to take weight off the front and she might be a handful in the wrong circumstances not to mention dragging its arse over everything like a dog with worms when 4wding.

Not necessarily Dylan, although if the new vehicle modification regulations come into force then this is a possibility.

The current model Pajero has suspension kits available for it, and most models have stability control AFAIK 8-)

Cheers

Also depends if they make it retrospective - which I think not.

Which means getting in and getting it done asap before any new regs. Just hope the suspension and after market guys can get onto it quickly.

Interesting perspective

I am a tradesman , married with 3 kids from 13 - 18 , and regularly use our 2 dirtbikes and campervan .

If you piss off the hard cover and sports bar ( I have in order to fit Ladder rack and easier tub access ) then it all fits in easily with the family in the car.

Have some photos in my shed if you want a squizzy.

It was the rear seat and the only vehicle wty with Lpg installed that did it for me.

The NM is going to stuff me though as no V6 in it. All I wanted was the 3.8 with 5spd auto and it would have been perfection.

fair call big brad, just goes to show we all have different perspectives and priorities. although you do have the kids and i would be interested to know if you test drove them in the other cars :?: .
my kids are younger than that but love the back of the ML. We also have an MK which is smaller and they get cramped.

shame they dropped the petrol for all the petrol preferers.....

Hi Brad
Great setup.

Just wanted to ask a quick question to educate myself.

How does you V6 pull your Jayco using Gas ?
And what is the economy like ?
