2nd Battery

Postby andyj on Sat Nov 10, 2007 8:08 am

Ok cut and pasted wrong info
2nd Battery tray was a piranha and cost about $160 plus battery
Can only fit in an 8" battery the tray bolts into original blind holes except for one I drilled it and put a nut and bolt in to hold.
It gets tight putting it in will have to cut off the lugs on the bottom of the battery to fit the tray

:)
Or as Speedy Gonzalez once said, it won't hurt, did it

I have the TJM tray and it holds a 10 inch. It cost I think $170 and a few beers and lots of swearing to fit.

This is mine

I used the same battery that my old man has in his Pajero. His was installed by Out Of Town 4WD in Newcastle. He travels all over Australia towing is van. He has run a 40L Engel of it for three years non stop and it is still going strong. If you look closely on the right hand side of the main battery the grey thingy is my Piranha electronic system. On top of my black fuse box is my Piranha excessory fuse block. Still gotta tidy it up a bit yet 8-)

Wouldn't a place behind the passenger seat be a good place?

Yep a 10" second battery is fine.
Just enough for a D34 Optima yellow top.
I ran two of these in the Paj for a couple of years with a Redarc controller and in cab dual battery monitor.
Before that I had a well known dual battery controller which caused an engine fire resulting in $10K damage (thank god for insurance) when the vehicle had been off for at least 20 mins (no accessories running).

I have mine in the tray mounted next to my 60lt Waico I have a 50 amp cable runing up to the main battery I use the rear one for running the fridge and extra stuff in the back I bought a batt box with all the plugs and cables in for around 80 bucks and just defore it connects to the main batt I have a 50amp circut breaker to stop overloading the cable works well It also depends on what you want to do with it my spare batt is a 700cca deep cylce stating batt works a treat I also have a isaltion swith so when I am running the fridge it doesn't drain the main batt
