Sounds good so far. hicko. It will be good to see how the torque comes up when you get to tow with it.
I hate to advocate drugs, sex, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they’ve always worked for me.

thanks garry for that write up,
:)
i am sure when you turn up boost to 22psi,
the feeling of the triton will have completly changed.

*22psi on the Tf03hl turbo-std turbo, is the best area to gain maximum power and torque,
without compraimising the life of the turbo, with no effect at all on the engine to. at 27psi and above is the std turbos maximum cfm and rpm.

so for those who want to take the std turbo up to its highest potential, dont overboost to 27psi,,, you will be producing less flow of air, and hotter air which will increase your egt. by staying in the efficiency range, where the air to fuel ratio will match, will heavily drop EGT, so run at 22psi, and max out at 25psi.

Mind you gets, anyone who is scared of overboosting because they dont know how much boost the std engine can handle. well a little insight, i am running 3Bar on my triton now, 3bar is 45psi-different turbo though!!!!. i have had no problems, not even one check light. this is how i build diesels trucks, everyday use, race use, crosscountry use,
all with no engine checklight and double the std power and double std torque, so imagen running a 300+HP Triton and way over 600NM of torque, with no engine checklight, minimal black smoke, good fuel economy and veryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy nice power and torque. 0-100 timed so far in low 6seconds, and 100-160 rediciously fast, 160-200 very quick.

i take on full projects to build customers cars in thailand, alot of which are from Canada, Australia etc.
though mind you i dont just do tritons, i do hilux, chevrolet colorado, and navara. if you gents want i can post some of the trucks i built if you guys are intrested in seeing modified 4 cilinder diesel trucks.

Monster,

I have a check engine light on my truck. how do i get rid of it? I think its from overboost, as i was nearly full throttle up a hill and it just cut out...

I turned up the boost to 20psi this afternoon as Monstertriton suggested.
That’s as far as I will go for now because the cheap boost gauge I have only goes up to 20psi.
It also rattles when the boost starts to rise, which is really pissing me off.
I’ll give it a good run tomorrow. That’s if I can get it back off my 22year old son. He’s out in it at the moment moving furniture with his mates. He is so impressed with it he wants to sell has present tricked up petrol 4x4 and buy a diesel Triton ute to hot up. It’s funny how things change. When I first bought it he bagged me for buying another slow oil burner, now he has changed his mind.
I haven’t been able to really give the Triton a good test yet, so if I get time this weekend I might put the big tyres back on and go for a run up Double Is Point beach.

On the off chance check your air cleaner. My engine check light use to come on when it needed cleaning especially under hard acceleration. Other than that It could be anything . A scangauge 11 can read the code and reset it or there is the stealer.

rick wrote:good post mate...... i may be investing along with a 3" exhaust.

I have just been talking to an exhaust specialist who I have used many times in the past about exhaust upgrades to enhance the DMS Piggy back. He advises my that a 3in exhaust would probably be an over kill unless a bigger turbo is fitted , as the triton exhaust system is quite well designed. He suggested that I just change the muffler to a straight through one as this will flow as much air as the standard turbo can push. He thinks that a $100 - $150 muffler will give close to the same benefit as a full 3in system with the standard turbo. Then you could install a bigger intercooler with the saved money for a better benefit. So that’s the way I am going to go.

hey guys thanks,

in response to,

thats all well and good showing a couple of pictures but that doesnt tell us how good they run or how much power and which modifications theve had

do you really want me to list every modification, i need a different thread for that,
next point, how much power, alotttttt more then yours :) i already showed some dyno results b4,
anyways all these trucks are pushing 300hp+ and over 610Nm+ of torque. as for how good they run,
well how do you think a 300hp 600+nm of torque in a 4 cilinder diesel with no engine checklights would run/?
really fun.

i should take and post up some new videos when i have time.
actually if you wanted to check the list of modifications i have listed it on that first link. i can copy paste it.

in response to the engine checklight,
you have to 3 simple options.
first option, switch of the truck, and switch it on after waiting 5 mintues or so,
if it doesnt disappear, it sometimes can take a while, sometimes a day.
second option, unplug the battery and then connect it, it will restart the ecu.
last option, is to purchase an obd2 code reader to read and delete the error codes.
i have smart guage, if you are intrested.

seems to be a grey area this exhaust thing hicko, ive spoken to three different exhaust companys and they have all insisted go 3" tube with either a high flow cat or manderal bend, they did all say dont go twin 2.75"......mikes having one fitted today so all being well ill be following suit tues/wed

There are heaps of ppl on the forum running 3" exhaust and im one of them, you want the gasses out of the system asap. I also have a high flow cat straight off the turbo (well after the bend) this helps get the fuel burnt at around 65% and having a chip in there should see the burn rate at around 85-90% providing your air/fuel ratio is right. Having the cat further down the line is supposed to be the worst place to put it as the burnt ration is right down at around 50%. This is what i have been told my taipan performance.

in actually fact,
for automatics we only recommend 2.5-2.7" maximum, this is suitable for std turbo and also turbo upgrade!
we use a half stright pipe, then a fujibutso ---stright flowing muffler, after the muffler, make a slight bend in exhaust pipe, this will help the back pressure for the automatic, and will help generate low down torque.

For Manuals, std manual can 3" is the best option for turbo upgrade, 2.75" is also very suitable for the std turbo, 3" is good to if you are running a piggyback, and planning to do further upgrades. with a manual, you want a stright flow exhaust, you dont even need a muffler, but if you want to have low DB then get a stright flow, but make sure its a complete stright pipe exhaust and muffler. the manuals dont need the back pressure, you just need the EG to escape is the best flowing pattern.

i hope this helps.

i sell mufflers to, 99% conditioned Fujibutso racing exhaust directly imported from Japan. with a full Jasma Quality. They produce very low DB, yet with its superior quality and superior stright flow design.
we have different designs, twin pipes, single pipes, single box mufflers, and single pipe mufflers.
very suitable for all applications.
