TDC CR PowerBox Test Results.

Postby Bigs77 on Wed Apr 15, 2009 9:53 pm

Hello everybody. Subi_man was kind enough to lend his Powerbox to me. So i did some testing. Here are the Results.
If anybody would like to know?

The times where recorded in the exact same spot on the road each pass, 80-120km/h test was done in 4th gear and the 100-140km/h test done in 5th ( on course it was not on Public roads officer). Each Fuel run was over the same 20Kms, with Cruse control set to 118Km/h and A/C on. Weather was 28 degrees, Fine and sunny.( Ok, Im on days off and thought I was on Mythbusters for the day)
All times in Seconds.
All Speeds in Km/h.

Without Power box.
0-100 = 17.74
80-120 = 12.80
100-140 = 19.90
Average Fuel = 13.0 L/100kms

PowerBox set on 5.
0-100 = 15.19
80-120 = 11.39
100-140 = 17.28
Average Fuel = 11.4 L/100kms

PowerBox set on 6.
80-120 = 11.29
100-140 = 15.51

PowerBox set on 7.
80-120 = 11.13
100-140 = 15.54

Powerbox set on 9.
80-120 = 10.22
100-140 = 15.82

Powerbox set on F. ( That is the highest setting)
0-100 = 12.92 (This was in 4x4, to stop wheel spin)
80-120 = 9.41
100-140 = 14.64
Average Fuel = 10.5 L/100kms

On this setting, black smoke was clear to see out the exhaust at high RPM but i could not get the engine light to come on, even after floging the shit out of it for a hour or so??? ( does anyone else do this)

So there you go. I am convinced it will save fuel if you drive Sensible and there is lots of extra power is there if you need it.

Once again. Thanks Subi_man, and Kevo78 for sitting beside me, operating the stopwatch.

Interesting. I havent seen the engine light yet, but i will give it a good workout for a week or so, and see what happens. I coundn't see that you can get that much more power and there not be a catch? Engine life??

Certainly less powerful, the drive to Orange yesterday saw me changing back a gear on hills it would otherwise have sailed up in 5th :?

coming back from moogerah dam on monday i put my foot down in 5th and hit about 120-130. next thing i know she's dead, engine light on, and engine no longer running!

i had was running the tdc on setting 'B' and had been for some time now. was the only thing that i could think of that would have caused the issue.
