Nokia 6120 with bluetooth car kit

Has anyone had dramas with the nokia 6120 and the mitsu factory bluetooth car kit in the tritons. I had a N70, worked brillient, but this new one is giving me the shits. I can't seem to adjust the speaker volume. :( so when i'm driving i can't hear the person on the other end.

You can download the latest firmware from nokia for free.
to check what version your phone has type *#0000# and this will tell you what version.
The latest version is 4.21 if yours is older go to (for a nokia 6120)

and follow the prompts this may help with the volume but don't know cause i don't have the factory bluetooth but it did help with my Blueant Bluetooth device

Nokia 6120 with bluetooth car kit

Postby trytin on Thu Apr 17, 2008 7:58 am

for those who read a recent post of mine re this topic, I have received today an add on kit to the bluetooth unit in the Triton. I contacted the suppliers of the Parrot unit before xmas and they have come good on their promise and sent me a test unit for trial. I will be fitting it hopefully tonight and see how it goes. I will give them some feedback and if all good they should be available soon. It has a separate volume control. Latest is there are more than the Nokia 6120 that are affected. If you are wondering why you cant adjust the volume by the radio its because it isnt connected to the radio, just switches the speakers. The Nokia 6120 has a preset bluetooth volume that cannot be changed, hence the issue.
PS updating the Nokia software does nothing to fix the problem and not worth doing.

Was Just thinking.

Can you get to the Parrot Bluetooth unit?
If so how is it connected to the stereo headunit?
Is it possible to connect it via the Aux input that you use for the MP3 cable if so you could then use the volume on the stereo to turn it up?

Just a thought

With the Parrot the ring volume etc is controlled by the volume on the handset.....

Nokia 6120 with bluetooth car kit

Fitted the upgrade unit last night, took about 20 minutes after removing and installing the centre consoles. Volume is great and can be adjusted by a volume knob mounted externally. This could be adjusted to a preset volume and put back under the dash, but will keep mine in reach. Did find some issues 1. A little bluetooth eco now evident, but not major 2. Adjusting the volume quickly makes the sound drop out for a second while it seems to catch up 3. Very bad phone interference (buzz) thru the speakers now. I found it hard to find a spot to hold the phone far enough away from the parott to stop it. Did some more testing by sheilding and moving a few things which helped a lot. Apparently this isnt as bad an issue on phones other than the 6120.
I discussed this with their engineer and Version 2 is now being worked on to fix these issues. They will send me another one soon. But all looking good so far.

Answer to your question KING TRITON

Is it possible to connect it via the Aux input that you use for the MP3 cable if so you could then use the volume on the stereo to turn it up?

KING TRITON the unit is located below the ash tray under the console. The unit only switches the spaekers. I wouldn't like to try and put on tthe Aux input as it isnt straight forward wiring. The mod Iam working on will be the way to go.

I've got the Nokia CK-7 bluetooth unit installed in my truck. All it is is a small button on the dash. It's back-lit at night and all I have to do is either push it once for last number re-dial or press and hold whilst saying which name I want to 'phone. It is also a volume control and the phone call comes through the stereo speakers although I had to buy another small unit to mute the stereo on a call.
All good, never fails.

thanks for the info trytin, hope their version2 is better!

Interestingly, I recently installed TomTom on my 6120 and the volume is perfect through the Bluetooth (phonecall volume sticks sucks :( )

Version 2 of the Bluetooth upgrade kit is on its way for testing. All teething problems fixed apparently. I will have it in the next 2 days and installed. Will let you know how it goes. I will also try and find out how it will be sold and let you guys know.
PS I tried the latest model Nokia Car kit that is recommended for the 6120 and all new Nokia phones. It sounds shit and the eco was extremely bad so if you are thinking of getting one TRY IT FIRST.
