oil change and warranty

Postby dueble on Tue Jan 06, 2009 7:04 pm

Will doing the 7500km oil change yourself on the diesel GLX/R affect the manufacturer warranty?

No but keep your receipts with the brand and grade of oil on them in case they challenge you over any possible future warranty claims...

Thanks Blue, I was not keen on paying someone 120 bucks or there abouts to change the oil for me.

Fair enough too, given it's a straight forward job...

here's a tip for any other idiots out there with higher regard for their skills than their hands can commit to.....yep big wrap for me.

if doing your own intermediate oil changes replace the sump washer. it is one of the crushable ones and will leak if reused. i'm one who does not like to swing off the sump plug and only do them up moderately and yep it leaked  .

also suggest using mitsu filter - keep the receipt as suggested.
if you buy 10 you may get a discount.

i also find out what brand of oil the chosen dealer uses and use the same. im one for not brand hoping.

just bought another brand car for wife and had long talk with service manager. says all fine to do my own inter service - just use genuine parts and established oil brand and spec.

hope this helps.

thanks subi i think i might, if this and a tube allows me to change oil without removing the bash plates then it is worth it.

they spec two for mits but read almost the same:

Mitsubishi All models ('01 & on Pajero requires adaptor ADL-106) 14mm-1.5 F-106 $41
Mitsubishi All models ('01 & on Pajero requires adaptor ADL-106) 14mm-1.5 F-106N $46

do you know which one it is?

Yeah mate they both fit but the the 106N has a hose barb/nipple on it (so you can attach a plastic drain hose if you want). The 106 is barbless 8-)

Just had a look under mine and there's not much clearance between where this would fit and the crossmember, horizontally that is. Vertically there's about 65mm but why couldn't they have at least left a hole through the sumpguard?
With the engine movement on its mounts to account for and only about 32mm vertically between the sump and crossmember, I might have to get a right angle 14mm x 1.5mm male/female adaptor to get enough clearance?
Unless they make a 90deg version but I couldn't find one on their site?
 ;) :| :) :D

There is only the nippled and non-nippled versions.

Cheers
