Only taking the piss.
Yes the spare will go back into the factory location. It's so much easier climbing under the tub without it there though.

:D

(Insert forehead slap emoticon)

Missed that piss take.

Dave, just check your heights for your rear bar with the tail gate dropped. The way it hinges the tail gate drops about 20 mm's so your going to have to keep the bar down or keep it under the tail gate.

I'm going to hijack the thread slightly. Did I miss something with putting car in high 4 whilst on the move. I put mine in high 4 on the move. Take it out of gear, put it in h4 put it back in gear can keep driving. I can do the same thing into 4low (although I rearly do) as long as I select the correct gear for the speed I'm going ie, 1st hight to 3rd low. It's more like I rolling change I must admit.
Should I not be doing this, or is it not ment to be able to do it

2wd to 4x4 can be done on the fly just don't have pressure on the driveline, so foot off throttle- coasting.

4x4 to low should not be done on the move

Thanks 4Wd26 for the clarification. And there I was thinking I had one over on Glen...

Ok so back to the mods. The rear bar took up most of my morning.

It was just a matter of moving all the mounting holes down 160mm.

With the holes scribed I had 100mm excess steel to take off. This will need to be removed to clear the tray mounts at the end of the chassis rails.

It's amazing how much grief drilling 10 x 17mm holes gave me.

Alas three beers later and we were there.

All bolted back in place.

The tailgate has about 20mm clearance to the step. I did have a pucker moment after reading RD1's heads up. I thought if it did hit a 20mm tub lift would be easier than drilling those holes AGAIN !!!

So tomorrow, install the pinch weld, mud flaps and number plate.

Nah Paul that's the only problem.
Going to use the 'run flat' system from a Hummer H1 and do away with the spare all together...

Looks good with the rear bar back on Motoz. Very neat!

TJM bar is definitely easier to mod than the ARB one, much simpler design. Worked out perfect 8-)

Have you thought about extending the side tube of the rear bar to go all the way to the wheel arch? That would be the icing on the cake :D

I did have that though today as I popped the fourth top off a coldie. I also want to work on the fender rails as well.

It never ends...

Continuing on...

Managed to get 1hr in today in between baby duties and visitors...

The ol heat gun and fishing line got the diamond off with minimal effort.
Then it was just a quick measure up, drill, paint and 2 x M8 nutsert's for the licence plate.

I grabbed these cool as Narva LED licence plate lights.

Tomorrow I'll twitch the wires and put the tailgate inner panel back on. Also fitted the pinch weld today. I think I'll run a small bead of sikaflex to stop any crud working its way into the pinch weld.

Hehehe it was in that shot !!! One of the holes in the plate is elongated so I had to level it. The mountings are spot on though so that's all that matters.

Didn't get the Xrox. Have one of the new Rhino bars being colour coded at the moment.

Also yet to instal the Ralliart projector headlights.

Great job Motoz, bet you can't wait to hit the tracks now 8-)
Actually, we have some cute little play tracks up here in NSW if you're still keen, good test to see if you've chopped enough off or not

Yes a NSW mission is on the bucket list. Have good friends in Newcastle we have been meaning to visit. Would like to make a trip of it and do some wheeling along the way.

TMR Ralliart headlights have arrived. Ended up getting 10 sets just for good measure...
