Nothing wrong with your reasoning ... BUT if you remove them and look you will see the chassis hangs about 40 mm or more below the sills and the only reason the steps get bent is to protect the chassis it would be a very high rock on the outside of the chassis .. and were talking 300 mm toward the outside of the ute that would hit a sill ... you have to look to see what i mean ... if your talking ramp over .. your sills are safe
