Another Tritrailer

Postby boostedbmw on Sat Mar 14, 2009 5:35 pm

Ok i was inspired by the awesome job we have all seen on here of the origonal Tritrailer. I aquired a single cab tray from my local dealer for $100. I got all the materials i could this morning (no axle and hubs yet, Tuesday) and welded it all together. Including trailer parts, tub and the alloy tool box it owes me $1250.

I think it's a bit easier to make that the duel cab one as there is a flat back panel to work with.
I have borrowed some 17" rims from a mate for the time being but am now looking for a set of 16"
factory alloys to finish it off.

Now that looks like it could take the motorbikes in the back, I am so jealous. I just wish I could weld.

Looks Great. There are some talented people on this forum. Does it take anything special to get it registered ? Engineering etc ?

Looks like great mind do think alike, here's a couple of pics of the trailer i knocked up late last year, its got an off road hitch, 50mm axle at the right length so it has the same track width as my ute and the hilux springs and shackles i pulled out of my ute when i lifted it, i've taken it 4wheelin a couple of times and it has no troubles going where ever the hilux goes. :D

Thats a great job too. I like the way you thought to run the draw bar right through to the rear. Looks nice and strong. I wired mine up today and will hopefully get the axle & hubs tomorrow.

That was called a little help from the neighbour and wouldn't you think the shots of the luxtrailer would have been taken further down the street so my Tri could have been in full view. Finally got my tub and now the planning begins.......... ;)

So that's your black truck in the background hey Wallace.

Bloody good idea running those two draw bars full length like that, super strong. And that's gotta be the most neighbourly act of kindness I have heard in a while. Helping someone from the dark side with their projects!

On a more serious note, it's good to have some people that close by with skills and common interests.
Also really handy for Shane if he needs a lift somewhere cause he's bogged or broken down :P

Good looking trailer - amazing how good wheels dress up a car/trailer.

Daryn , got a dual cab tub for a hundred. Not to worried as will take my time and build exactly the way I want it :D Mate of mine builds gulflander trailers and has a great ability to source parts I will need for my build although he is working on his Troopy at the moment getting it ready for around OZ trip, he is one hell of an engineer and also a good thinker so has planned the mods just right. :D :D :D

Homer I have no problem helping anyone and Shane has been a neighbour for a long time and is a top bloke, we now have two Hilux owners in the street and I must say we all get on fantastically. I can't really see the problem. We have some members from the Lux site that are bloody great and add constructive and helpful comments , after all we all enjoy our vehicles and the offraod scene no matter what the vehicle we drive. ;)
Cheers

 Yeah Wallace it was just a friendly jibe in case our darkside brothers were reading. I've seen/read how you get in and give a hand mate.

I've got 2 brothers in law with Lux'es and we have the same banter, but the same attitude to helping out and 4wd'ing. I must say that in my experience there is nothing between the two vehicles - except the Triton is better ;) - just in case one of them gets on here and reads this.

I think you might be just the bloke I need to talk to about my new Tritrailer Wallace! One of my mates works for Resort Trailers so between us all, we should be able to get them knocked up really easily! :D
