I have just done the mods to my Provent filter to help reduce back pressure. I would like to flush out my intercooler, Can someone please advise on how to do this.
I used about 0.5L of metho, closed the ends, shook it up and then drained it out. cleaned it out pretty well, but you have to shake it pretty hard to get it to do anything decent. Also, make sure you let it air out completely as it's not good to try and start it while there's still metho fumes coming out.
poured in some Kerosene and shook the intercooler like a mad thing. Did that about 5 times. used almost 1L of kero. The insides looked brand new after all that.
Edit: Not sure how one would clean it without taking the intercooler out
Just like a little advice about my cooler. Have started my bar install and thought i should clean mine while easy to get to. My issue is what seams to be oil deposit outside the inlet Now the gasket on this side should i reuse the original/ replace it with new mitsy one or are there other products available. The original one seams ok and the bolts were tight
Thanks Longranger1, got 76k on the clock been awhile like this i guess. This sensor safe silicone i can get from supercheap? and its oil resistant i take it
I was tinkering with my my car yesterday and thought i would remove the EGR valve to see how clean the manifold was. I have had my egr blocked for quite some time and cleaned out the manifolds upper and lower about twelve months ago. I didn't notice any carbon build up just oil obviously from the crank breather. I also installed Tony,s mod last week I was thinking of removing my intercooler and cleaning it out but not sure on how to do it I haven't looked to seriously yet but does it get removed through the grill area or from underneath . I have a ARB deluxe bulbar installed and don,t really want to remove it. So what is the easiest way to remove it.
I removed my intercooler yesterday and was prepared to remove the arb bar. Before I went to all that effort I thought I'd try and remove it through the grille hole first. To my surprise it fitted just removed the outlet going to the turbo first.
