Not out of the question I guess but I suppose now you know (hopefully) they probably did your tappets like you asked.
srb wrote:Hay geek you say you get these services done from your own mechanic but how do you get the small quantity learn? I though Mitsu dealers were the only ones with mut 3 software to do this? Or dont you think this is needed?
Lee-thal wrote:SRB,
there is already something in the Federal Government trying to get te software available to anyone.
Let me tell you this, For the MUT it cost nearly $18000 for the machine and the software and ongoing updates. I have no doubt that NO EXTERNAL repairer will pay the same for it. The amount of training the techs have to go through to ensure it is used correctly is Phenominal, you can DESTROY an ECU if u dont use it correctly.
Maybe Find a Dealer that might care about u a Little More. Be real in your expectations and what Dealers can do to help you. A lot of times Dealers can only do so much.
Who has told you it can only be serviced by a Dealer?
Lee-thal wrote:Your Post Doesnt Upset me, BUT what gets me more than anything is generalising what Dealers offer, There are over 200 Dealers in Australia and Not every one of them are Stealers as so many people like to put it.
There are a lot of Genuine, Passionate people at Dealers and most of them are more than happy to do what they can to Help. Are there Bad Dealers??? OF COURSE i will not dispute that for a second.
I am not saying it is hard to Carry out an SQL, But doing Software Updates although not complicated there are many little steps taken to ensure that it happens correctly. I HAVE personally Seen ECU's Destroyed during this process because a step was missed.
Again u generalise about Apprentices working on cars, Do we have apprentices, Of course we do. They tend to do the Minor services, BUT WITHOUT them working and learning on your car, in years to come there will be no skilled workers to work on your vehicle.
Trust me technicians these days are getting Paid better than what you think, At least in SEQ anyways.
I am extremely passionate about what i do and this prob shows in my responses, no doubt in your business you are the same.
Cheers Lee
