I ordered a white one

Postby waveriders on Mon May 18, 2009 12:01 pm

Have been checking out this site for a couple of months once I deceided to pass on the Patrol and look for a dual cab, although I still need to sell the Patrol. My list started at Triton, HiLux, DMax and BT50. I then worked that down to either the Triton or DMax and have finally decided on the Triton. I placed the order on the weekend but it will be the end of July before I see it. It's a white VR with factory diff lock and they tell me it may even have side/curtain airbags but that is not in the price. It will have both hard & soft lids and leather interior. Once the dealer has taken delivery it will be sent to one of the local accessory shops for a long list of extras. Experience has told me that it's best to get them fitted from the start. The final decision will the be tyres which will either be 265's or 285's either in BFG muddies or Mickey T MTZ's.

Am looking forward to the new toy and must say that the information on this site was extremely helpful in making the final choice.

Welcome to another white man! Well the black guys are doin' it!

So you can still order a VR with diff lock it seems?
Maybe you are getting the 2009MY10 if it's got diff lock, curtain airbags AND leather interior on a VR?

Both hard and soft lids? I've never heard of these before - but I don't check any Mits sites.

I wonder what the GLXR will have - or is the stealer is just running off at the mouth and when it turns up it will be a 'normal' VR?

Do you have anything on paper to hold these guys to it?
I hate to advocate drugs, sex, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they’ve always worked for me.

Congratulations. Now the big wait starts. Just a word about your tyre choice. 285's struggle to fit without a lift so bear that in mind.
I'd rather have a full bottle in front of me than a full frontal labotomy!

It ain't pretty being easy!!

It's a 2009 MY09, the leather is being done here through the delaer and the dealer is adding both hard & soft lids. My original though was a GLS but there was going to be too much that I would take off and thorw. Contract is written and signed.

It will be fitted with a Dobinson or Iron Man lift, approx 2" and I am also looking at strut spacers & extended shackles as I would really like to get it to about 3".

Very nice.

If you don't mind me asking - what is the soft lid?

Do you think it is a GLS with stuff removed as re-lining for leather and fitting curtain airbags would be expensive?

I suppose it doesn't matter either way.

I should probably check the Mits website before asking silly questions.

Congrats!

A soft lid is a soft tonneau (spelling?) cover.

No it is definitely a VR but the dealer advised me that diff lock is easier to come by when packaged with the side/curtain airbags. There is one on the shipping list which they have flagged for me but they were not sure whether it had the additional airbags or not, definitely had the diff lock. In regards to the airbags I am not worried one way or the other.

As for the leather it is done by a company in Sydney and all things considered it is not that expensive. It's the other list of accessories which is going to kill me.

The side/rear airbags are a package on the Pajero now - so it would follow that they do the same on the Tritons.

Enjoy your new truck !

Yes Wallace and it took some doing I give you the tip.
Subi jumped right in - even gave me a wave, but it looked like two against the world there for a while.
The black cars were circling menacingly and Snow Flake was more than a little concerned I'm not afraid to say.
I even spotted them having secret meet ups behind ye olde taverns late at night in the dark...discussing tactics no doubt.....

However we are a lot more comfortable now that Snowman has joined the fray - yeah....try taking him on darkies!
Even MrT would be a fool.

Although It would be a good blue between the Snowman and Jits's cyber predator terminator man thingy.

Oh contrare MrT.

Snowflake is a chip modded petrol drinker with a quaint little rattle at idle. A V6 steed of much fastness compared to the surging, limping Black beasties in your crew.

Add to that "the Hickmans" newly monstored drag ute and I think we have you well covered for straight line "run away it's the B team" speed... and Snowflake was "born to run"...(cough)

In fact I think from now on I will only refer to your riff raff crew as "The B Team"!!! :P

Pffft....hiding in the shadows with all the gold jingle jangle and jibber jabber....an easy spotto.

Well, the dealer phoned me this afternoon. All mods & accessories now fitted, had a few dramas along the way like no hard lids available from ARB so have had to put a GLXR one on instead.

Tyres are being fitted in the morning, have settled on Mickey Thompson MTZ 265/75R16 and I will finally collect it in the afternoon.

Can't wait till I get my hands on it.
