can we have a 'save favourite threads' button? i know that you can save 'favourites' on your computer via IE or Mozilla etc but i log in via multiple computers and there are a couple of topical threads for me which i can find hard to refind once they leave the current topical ones........ :?:

would be nice if you could do this via the site itself - even if you have a limit i guess.

At the bottom of the thread you're interested in, there is a button "Bookmark Topic". Once bookmarked, you can access them through the user control panel.

Dave,

can we get a couple more subforum options under 'technical' including 'bodywork & paint' and possibly 'interior trim'.....?

can the mods get a bit more strict and lock more threads?

ie; everyday there is a new thread on tyres/rims, if it doesnt raise a new question, can the mods suggest a search or point them in the direction of a similar thread and lock the new one.

Eelesy, Over on the dark side we started a few "Bible threads" to try and consolidate the question and answers... They then need to be made "sticky" and placed at the top of each tech section... workign well so far..

Nothing sticks here. Even Subi's articles are probably down to page 17 of the relevant area and he's a moderator.

http://www.newteflon.net ? :D

In fairness (to people like me) on this issue is that i find the 'search' function and results a bit clunky. I am not trying to offend anyone (it may be the way i am using it  ).

that is why i suggested breaking down the tech titles into more bite size pieces such as bodywork and paint to make searching a bit easier.

there have been times (like almost always) when i HAVE tried to search but just cant find it............ even threads that i know exist :?

All good suggestions, although they all mean work for someone behind the scenes.

As time goes on, I have tried to sticky as many relevant threads as possible (eg. the tyre survey and canopy thread), but you can certainly easily get OVER-stickied with info, and unfortunately I don;t think having the infomation easily at hand will necessarily stop the repetitive "what wheels/tyres" type questions.

But if anyone wants to create a bible thread say for tyres/wheels or any other category, I am quite happy to stick it

I have noticed on other forums that the more you get involved the more privilages you get.

ie: 5 posts allows you to see signatures, 10 posts allows you to start you own thread. and so on

Im not sure if this would work on our forum, although it might force new members to search what they are after and have a general look around before asking the same questions over and over again.

Then again, it could go the other way and have questions asked in the wrong threads and give people the shits and turn them away not being able to start a thread....

Just a thought..

Tex, shed profiles section is being revamped at the moment, it's going to work much better than current one... even the main intro page is being changed completely.... browsing of profiles will be much more simpler for sure.

Nice one Eelesy, I once looked into that, seemed doable but needs a bit of custom work to make it happen... it's on the cards for sure... if I decide to change forum software later down the track I know this other forum system has this option built in... I'd like to see that happen for sure... probably not so much for signatures but for starting your own thread, let them post only into a "newbies" area.

Dave

I have a suggestion not sure if everyone will agree but i reckon Location should be a mandatory field when signing up.
Its not like it is an exact address so people dont have to worry about security its just the town/area they live in and it lets people know who to look out for if someone is in there area which is what its all about.

what do others reckon?

i agree, its pointless signing up if you dont state where you are... makes it hard to organise STATE get-togethers!!!
