I need one as well mate! HR definitely have a good name like boris says.

Prodigy controllers seem to be getting a good rap nowadays too, and you can have a cradle fitted to two cars and take the controller between each car if you have the need - this appeals to me as my trailer could be behind the Triton or the Kluger 8-)

I had a HR controller for about 10 years in my Bravos and now I have the Prodigy controller in the Triton and it is far superior to the HR controller.

I have one I would be happy to part with. Its a Tekonsha Voyager, and to be honest, I have no idea what it does, but I know its a brake controller. Make me an offer.....prefer $$ rather than promises of sexual favours.

have a look at my profile for a perfect place to mount the controller. Loose an ash tray, but never used it anyway.

A good controller is the tekonsha prodigy, the cheaper version is the tekonsha voyager, there were some problems with the earlier voyagers, they have now been sorted. I have two voyagers, one in the triton and one in the falcon. If you can afford it the prodigy is the better one if not the voyager will do the job

I have Haymen Reece also. Used it on the Jayco and now the offroad camper trailer. We have the same model in the SS as well. Both are bullet prrof.

The one in the Triton is mounted under the steering column between the Bonnet and Fuel openers.

Brake controllers

Hi Guys,
I ran a HR for years and never had an issue. It is a nice simple controller with limited adjustment (but enough). I now have a Tekonsha Voyager and find it a bit tempremental. Always seem to have to adjust it and would go back to the HR any time. Don't get me wrong the TV works fine but just the HR is set and forget.
Regards,

I use the Tekonsha Voyager to tow 2.5 tonnes regularly. Its good, a bit fussy to set up but other than that excellent.
Removed ash tray in dash and fitted it there. ;)

Right!
I bought a Tekonsha prodigy, nice bit of kit and wired it up on the weekend. What a prick of a job :x
Anyway does anyone know what sort of voltage these brake controllers put through to the trailer plug? I checked mine thisarvo with my multimeter and Im getting around 4 volts. Is this normal or have I
f&%ked something up? The controller seam to be working OK (lights coming on when I put my foot on the brake etc) any ideas.

Hey Buzzy, I think the voltage will vary with the braking force required on the trailer - can you have someone manually activate the controller while you test the voltage?

Cheers

Believe you're right subi_man. The Tekonsha, from my experience, is one that applies a varying voltage to vary the braking force. Some of the others are just on/off which can be a bit of a problem when the trailer is empty.

If work is so terrific, why do they have to pay us to do it?
