Narva Ultima 225's with the blue lense $299 delivered! The only thing i don't like about them is the led light on the cabin switch is blinding when on!!!!! I'm gonna paint it so it ain't so bright. I've had hella 4000 & lightforce XGT and I would say overall these are best, price vs quality vs performance!

I have IPF 900XS, very good light and very strong with quality mounts. steel casings (not plastic like most the others) They are also waterproof for 2mins incase you get stuck in the water. I paid $380 with wiring kit from ebay.

I can recommend the Hella Rally 4000 had these before sturdy light good output and Lightforce are good too. Although my Lightforce 170's are over 5 years old and I've noticed I can get water ingress in one o the lamps. Maybe the goretex breathers don't age to well?? :?

I have these lights on an ARB delux bar. If I had my time again I would of gone for the 220's. Not for function but just for looks. The 180's look alittle small. The 180's are more than sufficient for night driving etc and i can't fault them yet.

I bought these and mounted to nudge bar. Plenty bright enough for my driving. not too big to look out of place or stick too high over bonnett. have found it hard to tighten enough to hold firm (lock)from tilting , I can.move them by hand a bit, but i dont know yet if they will vibrate out of position. Maybe I need to be firmer with the spanner . Easy to fit but had to remove nudge bar to get at mounting bolts properly.I put switch beside cig lighter in blank on RHS.(GLR-MN)
They also arrived quickly from SA and where well packaged

Have Narva 175's purchased locally from ebay for $130, good lights however constantly need to realign after rough roads. Will be making a support bracket before next trip, other than that happy with them.

I have 2X Lightforce XGT 240's on Bar and 4 X Lightforce Blitz 170's on sports bar. Have had every other breed and make of light and since getting first set of 170's about 10years ago haven't looked at anything else. Love Lightforce and there will never be anything else facing forward on my rig.
Work lights and reverse lights may be Nightvision or CAT worklights simply cause they're in shed not fitted to anything.

I'm also running the Lightforce XGT 240s but in HID.

Absolutely love em but roadsigns can leave you dazzled.

Dredging this up again...

So Sloth and the other hid guys, do you think the HID's are a bit of a problem in the spotties?
I have problems with my hid headlights reflecting the signs a fair bit especially now they make them so big and have so many of the bloody things.
Wouldn't be an issue on the Newel or something I suppose...

I had the LF 240 XGT's on my Triton. Thinking of going LED, anyone actually own them and can comment? Thinking a strip big enough to fill where lights normally go on the bar on my new rig.

Cheers,

Homer, I'm running 55w 6000K HID's in Hella Rallye 4000's and yes, the odd road sign can reflect back and be a bit dazzling. The point is, that when you need serious light out the front, there probably aren't a lot of road signs and I'd much rather be able to see what's coming up than power down just for reflection from road signs. Just as with an approaching car that has dazzling lights, just look down at the road and it shouldn't be too much of a problem. The colour temperature of your lights has an impact too - 4300K to 5000K actually gives you more light output and the slight yellow tinge softens the glare.

If you don't want to go to HID's and want more instant light without the warmup period, as well as avoiding the impact on bulb life that flashing has on HID's then you could go with Catz Zeta boosted halogens. Much brighter than normal halogens (approaching HID for lumen output) and instant on.

Whether you go HID or not, even 100 watt halogens in a good light like a Lightforce will give you reflections from road signs. You could aim them right down and put 25watt globes in but that would be defeating the purpose and probably not achieve the desired degree of retina burn for the occasional idiot that warrants it.

SkIp, the LED's are awesome but if you've come from XGT's you will miss the extra kilometre of range.

Each to his own, mate. I like very long range and so, for me, the answer is yes, I want a light that has a range out to 1500m. Others are happy with more spread.

I run two spreads and am looking at 55W 6000K HID's.Dont see the point of 1 km vision when there is usually a bend well before that.

im also in the market for new lights for the new rig. my old triton had light force 240XGT's with blue blue lens kit.
first off i loved them very good light did not move etc.... the only thing i did not like is that with 1 spread and 1 distance i all ways found it a bit uneven.
the light force's of course over powered the cars lights and i had one beam of light done the right and a flood of light on the left, it gave me the shits so much i ended up going to two spread's.

 for the new car i plant to go for the new rang of light force the 210 HID GENESIS, they are a bit smaller than 240's but i will try to fit four of them in the bull bar (2 outer spread) (and 2 inner distance) still with blue covers, i recon this will be a nice even light patten.....IF ANYONE HAS DONE THIS I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR HOW IT IS FOR YOU.

ALSO IF ANY MEMBER WANTS 2 SETS9 1BLUE AND 1 CLEAR) OF 240 COVERS AND CAN PICK EM UP FROM CANBERRA...LET ME KNOW $FREE
I'M NOT SMART.......BUT I CAN LIFT HEAVY THINGS.

Had aimed them down before taking this but you get the idea

The more blue your light, the higher the colour temperature as measured in Kelvins (K).
Actual light output is measured in Lumens (lm)

Using standard D2S HID bulbs, with a standard halogen bulbs as a reference:
Bulb Colour Output
55w halogen 3800K 1100lm
100w halogen 4000K 1850lm
D2S 4300K 3200lm
D2S 5000K 3150lm
D2S 6000K 2800lm
D2S 8000K 2550lm
D2S 10000K 2200lm

OEM HID's range from 4300K to 4800K while daylight is around 5000K.

By putting blue filters on your lights you are effectively changing the colour to around 6000K for the Narva's or around 8-10,000K for the Lightforce. In other words your light output is reduced by 12.5% to 31.25%.

hmm i wonder if you can get a set of these for some hella 4000's with blue filters. it pointless i reckon having blue lenses on the road, although i can really see the benefit when on the beach if their is a heavy swell with lots of mist round
