Lightforce 240 Blitz vs Cibie Super Oscars

I am currently tossing up between these two brands for the triton. A search of "Cibie" reveals no results. Any feedback to help my choice will be appreciated.
I'd rather have a full bottle in front of me than a full frontal labotomy!

I have the 240's and they are very good lights - BIG though so they're not for the shy... Never owned a set of Cibies so can;t comment on them sorry

I had cibies on a ford escort years ago and was very impressed with them. Turned night into day although reflection of signage was an issue. They don't look to have changed too much over the years though so could be old technology.

This is something a bit different to look at
Nite Stalker 170's from Super Cheap $139.00 for a spot/flood combo. they were voted best spot light for size and value in a 4wd monthly comparo.
The are a full steel construction with Stainless steel bezel very nicely made and they come with covers and the option for stabilizer bars if going to do alot of corrugation work.
I would reccomned these, they easily have a distance of 350+ meters and Nite stalker is a well known brand thay make the roo lights.
A full setup with lights, wiring harness, cable ties, black tube all for under $200. check out my profile for pics they are not a bad size.

I assume the rocker switch in your dash is for the spotties. Something to think about certainly although would have to go up in size. They would look tiny on a bullbar.

dunno what the warn setup is like- but fitting LF240's on my ironman gear would make it a prick to get to the freespool lever on the winch- its prick enough getting your hand in without spotties in the way

Yeah, lock nuts all round. It took me nearly half an hour to mount the smaller ones. Not much clearance down there.
But if they want them bad enough, nothing will stop them.
Can see everything though.

Yer thats the only bad thing aye! Little stealing bastards!

Does the spotties effect flow to the intercooler?

Not that I have noticed. The 170's mounted low are not in the road of the intercooler at all.
It's 40*C everyday here in summer and the temp needle is always just below halfway.

To those running LF 240's, how is the spread of the beam because as far as I'm aware, they are spot lights only

The width of the spot is adjustable - personally I don't like spread beams, I find the stock headlights spread very well but lack distance, and the 240's fix that perfectly for me 8-)

There's a retro fit for Lightforce coming out or has been released that can change all models into HID. Cant find it on the site yet. But Saw it at the show in Brissy. JUst like the 240HID model except the ballast is not in the body of the light.

With the 240's the Blitz model has an adjustable beam.. but you can also change the filters to get a spread beam.. i run blue filters, one spot, one combi(spot and spread).. that way you get the distance and also light up the sides... 8-) ;)

Been running LF XGT's for 18 months and i think that there one of the best spotties i've ever had. Been looking into the upgrade to HID's so when there out of warranty i'll attack it.

I've had both the Lightforce 240's and Cibie Super Oscars. The Cibies are a very controlled light with passable range at about 800m and a bit of spread (even in the long range version). The Lightforce are just an awesome pencil beam which, in the right conditions can give you up to 1500m range and a very white light due to the type of bulb, but they do lack the spead to light up the edges of the road a bit closer in. This time I chose the Hella Rallye 4000's in "pencil beam" which provide the best of both worlds - excellent range at about 900m+ and a little trick which comes from their "free form" reflector which directs most of the otherwise wasted light back down onto the road close in (10-100m depending on aim) while maintaining a very tight spot for very long range. Check out the deals on EBay. I got mine for $400 which is cheaper than the Lightforce 240's and they fit a little better into the bullbar as well (220mm vs 240mm) while still allowing access to the winch free spool lever on the Ironman bar (albeit just a little tight).

Silver, I have a set on the wife's Kluger and they seem just as good.... haven't had them all that long but no complaints so far. It hardly goes offroad, so I'm not sure how they handle rough treatment compared to the Lightforce range.
