Thanks, looks like I'll need to get down to supercheap early tomorrow.

Cheers :)

I did my rear diff last week. My washers were copper. The drain was M18 from memory. The filler seemed to be every so slightly different but at least that one you could take off and check in advance. Maybe that was the M16 mentioned above?

I found the correct size for the drain plug in a champion assortment of copper washers. Like a little 6 pack thingie. It was a bit of a fluke really as I'd already looked through 4 other comprehensive assortments of washers and not found the correct size. Worst case you can likely re-use what you've got in there.

Mine had pretty significant imprints in them from what was probably over exuberant tightening previously.

I'm confused!

Started the drive train oils etc today. For the rear diff(2014MN) the log book says 2.1L   , penrite and Castrol websites suggest 3.2L :? , and the diff actually took close to 4L. :x

Ran out of oil to do front diff, thank god super cheaps got 25% off today and 2mrw for club members. :) 8-)

Rang local mitsubishi dealer parts section and the bloke was just quoting what he was reading on the castrol site 3.2L. Why would mitsu suggest 2.1L

Anyone know the correct figure? I just filled up until it dribbled out the plug hole, and reused the washer. Transfer fluid figure in the log book looks correct.

Mitsubishi don't buy into the fill till it comes out thing. They have it so when "full" the level sits about an inch shy of the filler hole. I just fill it til its my kind of full....

The workshop manual describes a whole big rigmarole where you stick an allen key into the filler hole and fill til about an inch below the hole as indicated above. i gather that was because they were getting too many complaints of leakages from the filler hole. I've had experiences of diff oil coming up the ARB air line on mine so I wasn't game to put too much in.

I don't have any lockers etc yet, as long as filling it to the drain hole won't cause any damage to any other components??

Maybe ill just leave it where it is, provided no damage can be caused being filled to filler plug. Not to worried about the mess it makes dribbling out on refills, if thats the only reasoning then I'm good.

Hmm I've always refilled my diffs till oil runs out the filler... And I've never had issues doing this with any of my vehicles.

Probably just saving a buck or two on a couple less pumps on the assembly line.
