Front Dff/Gearbox Breathers

Postby ag9111 on Fri Mar 06, 2009 9:16 am

Any one know were the front Diff, Man Gearbox and Transfer case breather ports are. Rear is easy and already extended but a quick look underneath doesn't reveal a lot. Search of the forum informs that these breath up to something on the firewall behind the motor. Can't seem to find that item either. Any photo's, info would help.

The existing breathers are pretty easy to see. High up on the firewall, between the steering wheel and the engine block are 2 breathers. They don't look like much, are alloy tubes with a rubber top but they are factory and nice and high.

I looked through the mitsubishi manual for these and decided whats there is adequate. The rear was extended through to the engine bay.

There is one missing that I have been unable to trace through.

Well there should be 3 breathers in the engine bay
Front diff (traced the diagrams) ok
gear box, or transfer case (this is the breather I believe is missing)

Mine is an auto and I've been unable to confirm if there is "internal venting"

I had a good look at this 6 months ago- so my memory is a bit hazy on the exact details.

Right - so the rear diff needs extending, the gearbox and front diff are in the engine bay and you think that the transfer case doesn't have a breather fitted ?

I spose I could get off my lazy arse and check it out myself but - huh ? too many beers......like it when the answers fall into ones lap..... ;) :D
