ARB Sahara vs. Commercial Bullbar

Postby Bartman on Tue Apr 21, 2009 1:24 am

Hi. Could anybody advice me if it is reasnoable to pay 1000 USD more for ARB sahara bullbar (in comparison with commercial bullbar)? Does the Sahara have any advantages worth the money?
Thanks in advance.
Best Regards.

FWIW, I think the Sahara looks good on a Triton, though I'm not really a bullbar fan.

The commercial bars look pretty solid and if the point is to protect the front end from skippy it should do the job.

Yeh mate Sahara bar will leave your front quater panels and head lights exposed to animal strike. Go the commercial

Thanks mates. I've 2 more questions. As I live in Europe I'll probably go for Sahara because here brush bars are forbidden by law. Sahara allows to detach brush bar and I'd be able to go for inspections without it ;).But I also consider different solution: Buy commercial and in case of troubles deprive it of tubing with the help of grinder, filler and paint...
So is it possible to do it no harming bullbar to much (will it be suitable for use) ?
The second question is about Sahara...Does it have plate for winch (on pictures in ARB catalogue it is shown without winch). Please forgive me that maybe stupid questions but here in Poland I have to order all ARB equipment in internet and I have no posibility to lookat this items and compare them.
Thank you all one more time.
Best regards.

Thanks mates for all advices. I finally have ordered deluxe bull bar. Retailer just had bad informations and he called commercial bullbar which really was deluxe. I came to conclusion that's not worth to pay 1000$ more for sahara in comparison with deluxe and bought as above. Now I'm a little bit afraid if my stock suspension will have enough space for my 265/75/16 tyres when it will sag under the weight of bullbar.
Best Regards.

What better excuse do you need to upgrade the suspension? The single best thing you could do to the car IMO.
I'd rather have a full bottle in front of me than a full frontal labotomy!

I'm still hasitating because of famous on this site problems with shuddering. But after installation of bullbar & winch I'll probably have no choice.

I hear you. I've been there, done that now. First the lift then tailshaft spacer, gearbox spacers and centre bearing rotation. No shudder now though. ;) It had to be done as I couldn't stand the boatlike handling of standard suspension.

Did you prepare spacers by your own or received them from Dobbinsons?

Tailshaft spacer came with the kit. Gearbox spacers are 6mm steel cut to fit by me
