Windscreen wiper blades - WTF!

Postby FreestyleCab on Thu Jul 10, 2008 7:44 am

I looked at changing my wiper blades today and checking them closely, they appear to be two different widths!

The passenger side appears to be a narrow blade and the drivers side appears to be wider.....wtf is going on Mr Mitsubishi?

Either I have been victim of a random wiper arm swap, or all Tritons come like this. Can everyone please check their wiper blades and tell me I am mistaken!

just checked mine and they are different sizes. God nows why they would do this but anyway. I think you can buy single units from supercheap.

maybe one person developed the passenger side and another person on the drivers side and they forgot to confer during the design process:o

A lot of late models are like this. RHS is 7mm (not 8mm) & LHS is 6 mm. We found that trico ttr710 & ttr610 work best. Having metal backing like the oem blades they wipe better & last longer. (product plug over)David

Bought mine form Supercheap Red Silicone units to match the Red Planet paintwork.

Silicone cleans better & lasts longer in our Oz conditions.

I am not a fan of the wiping action on my Triton, it seems to grip the windscreen to much and is very noisey.

I like the sound of Silicone units, but I fear you can't get them in black. LOL8-)

Longer blade on driver's side gives higher and lower swept area when vertical while shorter blade on left side is on longer arm and sweeps through greater angle. Longer blade needs more support. End result is more of the windscreen is swept when wipers are operating.

Because it is more efficient, more manufacturers are using this geometry. Wait until the Triton gets the new style moulded plastic backs.

Yes it's the oldest trick in the book. You have to tell them to replace NOTHING without a phone call.
They got me with my MK. I put new silicon wipers on 1 week before the service and then paid for an expensive crap Mitsubishi set 1 week later.
I hate to advocate drugs, sex, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they’ve always worked for me.
