Tail light removal?

How do I remove the tail light on my ML?
I took out the 2 screws inside the tail gate, but now I'm scared to lever or pull it as I don't know how it's kept in place and which way it should go.

Pull it straight backwards - as in if your standing directly behind the vehicle, place a couple of fingers on the side of the vehicle where the tail light wraps around and points to the front, place the other hand where the screws were and pull it toward your stomach...

It's located by a couple of pins which penetrate rubber grommets, holding it in place - it'll take a little effort to remove it...

yes, a LOT of effort - the pins are a tight fit in the grommets
