just wondering what combination of tools have you guys been using to get this bolt out and also why cant we put the plate up the top near the rocker cover?
thanks

It looks exactly the same as the 2.5 and I used a socket on an extension[150mm - 300mm] with a right angle bar and a piece of heavy black plastic reticulation pipe slipped over that for leaverage. Make sure the extension is dead straight and the socket well home and it will go with a crack. Steel pipe would be even better.

ok look guys i got the shits big time my engine check warning light came on again yesterday, so i took out the blanking plate put everything back to standard and went to dealer to get the engine check light removed so ive come to the conclusion the blanking plate can stay out its not worth the trouble of getting to dealers and removing light with mut (LAPTOP WITH MITSU SOFTWARE) oh well at least ive got the latest reflash released last month and shit i tell ya she flies i cant notice any loss in turbo spool ,my car goes better without the blanking plate

i had the ECU upgrade in first week of october.
Was experiencing cruise loss/power loss /surging etc.

I left the EGR plate in and wastegate turned up when i left it there...

3000Km later and no probs and slightly better throttle response/pickup around the 1500-3000RPM on top of the massive improvement blocking the EGR makes!

I think the EGR blank confuses the ECU sometimes... It just chucks a sooky limp home which resets on a simple restart... I hope its solved with the new reflash....From borngeeks report it is..

BTW the light DOES go off (for me it took two days). Mits said it will turn off after the ecu has no further errors for a certain amount of runtime (i didnt ask what that time is - seriously doubt mits would share that with service dept anyway)..

The code was still in the ECU according to Mits it was a 'Code4 - MAP sensor out of range'.

I think the EGR blank is a contributing factor to bringing the issue up. (for some not all!)
I have read on this forum ppl getting probs without it so other factors such as temp, engine wear, driving style etc can cause these probs i would say. Mitsu service said the problem is known and in the mits service computer. The fix being this new ECU software... (recieved by dealer on Oct5th i got it on the 6th! I am sure it took a few weeks to get to dealers?)

Get the ECU flashed and happy days!! (for me anyway!)

Mits def were not aware of the EGR blank and wastegate mod installed when i left it there.(or they kept their mouth shut? and hence dont care..)
I left it there ALL day and specifically asked them to road test it and they did 22Km in it!! Which is a burn up and down the short bit of the eastern distrib/M5 right next to the stealer..

I did mods in this order: (approx a few extra k's here and there)
Wastegate = 4000Km
EGR Blank = 5500Km

First probs = 6500Km
ECU Flashed @ 7000Km

Now = 10,000Km (turned over yesterday)

Fingers crossed it licked!! :D

I left my egr plate in for the reflash but i have had limp mode at least 3 times since   don't think the reflash has addresed the power loss issue i think blue has had power loss after reflash as well.

First engine light today after blank about 1000 K.M ago. Happened on 33 Deg day overpassing a Hilux. :D
No limp home modes yet.

Thats O.K. if my inlet is kept clean. Now do I simply buy a scan gauge and clear the code each time?

Does this clear the code? or will it disappear by itself?
Will an ECU reset, clear the code?

Is anyone using the other two types of more expensive scan type gauges with big LCD screens and GPS capability ?

My limpys dont throw any codes or lights... Plate in and inlet clean . Im happy to put up with it IF... its like 1 per month, But if it gets frequent i might have to change tack....

Im gona re evaluate the possabilities of disableing the egr valve itself...

Ive been resisting using my brain on this problem but now i think its forcing my hand.. Next weekend when i get back from Adelaide im gona set too this problem.

Those manuals that were posted here , do they include electrical schematics...

Initially I was getting limp mode and/or light when I first installed the blanking plate.

Overnight battery disconnect seemed to solve that problem, and haven't had one for many months now, even while running my TDC Powerbox on setting 5 8-)

thanks subi i might try that.

when my plate was first installed i went weeks with no limp mode. then about 3 in three weeks. now i have had it countless times :x . happened yesterday as i was getting onto the F3 had to pull over and reset for a few minutes. very frustrating. will try battery disconnect.

like Alex i think the mod is for all the right reasons (to avoid carbon build up), but maybe we need a slightly better way.

only ever one engine light though :?
This car is like a bad drug habit. It is taking all my money and time, my family are concerned, but new mods just feel sooooooo good.
