Have been looking for alternatives and got excited a few times but a lot of the sizes are not available in Australia and may have to import
Simex tyres are rated smaller than their actual dimension so dont want a 34" JT2 which measeures in at nearly 35"
Alternatives that I have looked at are Maxxis Trepadore in 255/85/16 or 33.5" not available in Aust
simex centipede in 32x10.5x16 or 33.3" none in stock
one i want is Simex JT2 33x10.5x16 or 33.7" none in stock $390 ea
Maxxis bighorn 255/85/16 or 33.5" available $320ea
SilverstoneMT-117 Extreme's 33x10.5x16 available $360 to 400ea
Decisions decisions.

I can get 35" silverstone extremes for waay less than that, last I checked 330-340 for 35/11.5x16.

Thats the funny thing, due to the volume of 35's that sell, they are cheaper than the smaller sizes

just missed out on a set of 33" centipedes on Ebay that went for $1200 dollars mounted on ML Triton Alloys, 1000km away though. Tyres were about 50% worn so wasn't going to pay any more and these are less of a rock tyre and more of a mud tyre than the Jungle trekker 2 that I am after.
To make matters worse I have tracked down some MT-117 extremes for $1100 a set supply only. Real size measured is 33.4". Just about perfect.
Have picked up a set of 95 prado steel rims. Awaiting delivery of those.
I can get the silverstones now or another 6 weeks for the Simex's at $1600 fitted.

:? :? :? :? Descisions, descisions :D :D :D :D

Anybody got any feedback on the Silverstone MT-117's

^^^ ET15 is a good offset to run on the triton- but I've been shamed into selling my Prado alloys.

time for some 17x8 patrol alloys- then I can be troll tough

Upgrade your rim bible to note that the 95 prado rims are ET15 steel and alloy

Fitted them today- no requirement for any trimming of the plastic 8-)
How good is that :D

loaded up the front as much as I could and checked clearances.

Wheeling a bit later I found that they touched on the front of the guard-plastic shroud, in a area that I hadn't thought- below the ARB bullbar- washerbottle. Need to tie it a bit further forward.

Other wise all good.

These tyres are 32x9.5"
but they measure 849mm diameter- taller than a 33" which measure 833mm

32x9.5-16" or 245/85-16"
rim size 6.5-8.5 (in my case 16x7 ET+15 prado 90 series alloys)
load rating 110N (not legal on a triton) but these are wheeling tyres, second set
diameter 849mm
width = 268mm

I'm still looking at getting the 33/10.5/16 on the same rim. Where do you think it is going to touch and how much. I dont have that area that yours touched on as i lopped my waterbottle off and plated under there.

The JT2's are 8 mm taller and 30mm wider

caught on one of the protruding baffles in the plastic, broke the zip tie attaching it to the ARB bar.

wider, will defiantly get the rear (I have 10mm clearance) during compression and turning- I know what will need doing, as I had a good look at kyles 33" claws and zero offset.) cut the plastic lining and bend flat the pinchweld that is there. not too hard- I was expecting to have to do this myself. Still may have to "massage" stuff as I compress the bump stops during hard wheeling

Has anyone tried running 305/70 R16s on a rim with +10 offset? Total diameter is 834mm (30mm more than my current tyres) but they're a hell of a lot wider 8-)

One of my many concerns is that they'll be too wide in the front with the 2" lift (car currently sitting at around 580 in the front) and they'll scrub on up-travel in the rear :s Does anyone know if this combo has been run before? other than giancarlo's setup (wayyyyyyyyy too big IMO)

Cheers guys, Fraz

Kwijbo is running 305/70 R16 with a 0 offset and had to do some serious chopping of the guards to make it work. He is running the same suspension. I have 285/65 R18 (33x11.5) +30 offset and work perfectly without having to remove the mud flaps.

Awesome, Well if that's the case then I may be able to just get away with the +10 offset.
