If you had stock springs Trick, I'd say this was normal but not for Ironman gear :-)

Subi, Well I paid for Ironman performance rear springs, greasable shackles and shocks to be fitted. I can ID the shocks easy enough and the shackles have grease nipples but no real id on the springs other than being 6 leaf. So not sure if I actually got the IM springs or not.

Mind doesn't squeak yet have you got them wet much? You may need to spray the leafs with a silcone spray. I noticed with my ironman leafs they do not have nylon strips between the ends of the leafs like the factory ones. You may need to check your u-bolts aren't loose.

Shouldnt have to put any lube on them. Brand new aftermarket suspension. I would be on the blower to Ironman.

Nylon bushes do require lube, Buzzy - you need to lube them periodically unless you have greasable shackles.. I'm with you though, if they are squeaking alreadyTrick, perhaps give Ironman a call and have them check it out

Has Anyone have any idea what causes the factory leafs to squeak?
You have to remember all leafs are metal strips on metal strips really so it could be just a manner of something loose causing it to rub and squeak.

Ironman rear suspension squeaks

glx-rsilver,

Mine standard ones squeaked after a stint off-road, I found the squeak was coming from the spring holder which clamps the spring together, round bar at the top flat on sides and bottom. Sprayed it with silicon no joy, got it jet washed then it only squeaked slightly. Had a heavy load in the back and no squeaking :)

Yep thats where the squeak is coming from... i had to spray some "spray grease" on mine, and that fixed the problem, until i took it off road and filled it with mud, now the squeak is back...

As I said before this is all bullshit. We have about 16 SR Hiluxes at work and none of them have squeaky springs. They get abused something fierce through coal dust and all sorts of crap, and get bugger all maint. Cant understand why we have so many problems with squeaks from our OEM springs and now our aftermarket stuff as well :-)

BTW I have been getting a little squeak in my Dobbies occasionally to. :x

Does anyone know whether the spring clamps are the same as on the hiluxs? What if you changes the clamps? Has anyone asked any spring specialist about the problem? What about stripping the springs and applying moly grease between the leafs?

Trick.

My OME are now doing it as well. ARB want to see the vehicle first thing on Monday morning. It is to do with the spring pack moving sideways and rubbing the edges on the retainers. They are looking at putting in different U bolts to retain the pack better. The issue is to tap them back in line, you have to jacl the back of the vehicle high enought to get the wheels nearly off the ground.

It'll get sorted.

Well, well, well. ARB did not change the U Bolts when the springs were done...tisk tisk!

They are now on order and will be fitted later this week. The issue is the travel is too much for the Mitsi U Bolts to control and they are stretched to buggery and cannot hold the pack in place. Lucky!

Make sure when your new springs go in that you request new U Bolts as they are not normally supplied.

On the matter of my serious "vent" the other day...the vehicle is now in (again) and they are looking at the programming side of things for the ECU. Should be sorted by tomorrow afternoon, hopefully. They even offered me a Lancer to drive as a courtesy car. I should vent more often?

I can't beleive the S*&^t some of these 4wd companies (names consists of 3 letters) try to get away with. :x
I know that once a u bolt is taken off it should never be replaced as they stretch and twist and are no the same once removed, and you will find that just about all suspension manufacturers state that new u bolts are to fitted at time the suspension goes in otherwise your warranty is void. So why don't they know and understand this.
Two new u bolts cost us what $20-30 so to them its maybe $10 why risk a problem or reputation over $10.
I bet if you installed it yourself and did not put new u bolts on and something went wrong i know who they would of been blaming

Just confirming the new ARB Ubolts were installed and after a week of driving there are no squeaks...yet. The issue was the factory u bolts had stretched and they were not holding the spring pack tight enough, so the packs shifting and squeaking. I'll keep you posted if anything changes.
