OOOH the smell of diesel in the morning nothing like it, just a bit rough when you come home smelling of it.

8-) 8-) 8-)
Or as Speedy Gonzalez once said, it won't hurt, did it

Smell??? and Oil

Postby AdrianL on Fri Apr 25, 2008 5:22 am

Well gents...got the car back today and here was the diagnosis.

Suction control valve sticking affecting fuel pressure
refer to hotline ML13-002 (This was causing a funny smell and also should fix the surging problem on cold starts)

Drives better now but will monitot over the next few days.

Subi - can you add this Hotline Fix for future reference.

Cheers

Adrian

I think I might have this problem now... Engine seems down on power, surges terribly when cold and is using more fuel than usual :(

Looks like another trip to dealer is in order

Subi - when yours is surging - you get blue smoke out the back of it too...?? Thats what mine was doing - 6 trips to 2 differant dealers within 2 weeks, did'nt cure it........

And it was just a curse!!!:( :(

No blue smoke, but the injector noise when the surge hits is very loud (like my old 2.8 Rodeo on a cold morning  )

Mine also went through a phase of doing a big power drop while it was surging - accelerator pedal also loses all 'feel' at the same time - no EML came on though........
