ML13-003 (Engine Surge at 80KM)

Postby riggs on Mon Jan 12, 2009 3:51 pm

hey, just had my 30,000km service told them of the surging at 2000rpm which could be felt in all gears. after service had this reflash (ML13-003, ENGINE SURGE AT80KM). this has fixed that problem but now at 90kph just below 2000rpm 4th gear (TD-auto), on a flat road at light throttle the ute jerks from what it seems the motor cutting in and out. anyone else had this issue after the reflash.

Mate, I have had the jerking from the motor cutting in and out from day one, mine is a manual and done 30000 kms it has had 2 ECU updates and every time I take it in, they say they reckon they have it nailed, but still to date it still does it between 80-100kph only in fifth gear under very light throttle...does it every time. I actually had some blokes from Japan come out and plug their laptop in and drive around pulling off data. They went back to Japan came up with an ECU update, put it in the car and it was slightly better, but it is still there. I am very frustrated!

Maybe the new fix will be an officially sanctioned MRT remap?

Mine did it from about 5000kms, took mitsu along time to work things out, then they came out with the ECU reflash, still didn't fix it. So i found out later there is a small copper pipe/ tube on the inlet manifold that blocks up with carbon, its connected to the turbo boost pressor sensor which is located on the passenger side of the fire wall, to unblock it use a small drill bit. If that doesnt fix it try and get the stealer to replace the fuel suction control valve.

Thanks you are a champion, I was dreading booking my car in for a day (self employed). It was blocked sprayed some WD40 in and used a 3mm allen key now its all clear and running like a dream. Something so simple could cause so much drama.

mine is going in for a new inlet maniflold on wednesday under warrenty, they are replacing it because it is choked up with carbon. the car runs fine except when cold, the engine holds its revs when you take you foot off the accelerator.

Its got 52000k's, I took it in to get the steering column replaced due to the rattle and mentioned that the engine holds its revs when cold so they would do the ECU reflash. When I picked the car up they said the turbo boost sensor line was blocked (which they cleared) but it will need a new inlet manifold. THe car ran better when cold the next day but quickly went back to the way it was. Its actually getting worse now, doing it when hot sometimes as well. It's like having the cruise control on but i dont have cruise control. So anyway I am guessing the manifold is getting replaced due to the carbon build up shown in the photo above. I am probably getting someone elses that has been cleaned up!

You should be getting a new improved inlet manifold deuble, not one the same as your original 8-)

this is my first diesle , and first turbo for that matter and when reving or just changing gears it seems to hold its revs for a second before coming down to idle
is this a normal thing or should i have it looked at

Dylan, the work Di Diesel hilux's I drive do exactly that but my Triton actually speeds up a bit before slowing down. It can last a few seconds then it just cuts out like it misses. I suppose it could be dangerous. Will see how it goes tomorrow night after it's been fixed I guess.

There is a new and improved manifold? I will hit them up when I drop the car off to make sure it goes on.
Cheers
