Cheers - hard to go past the MRT tune with their current specials. I'll be leaving the blanking plate in as well.

VERY impressive gains there Daryn! 8-)

What is amazing with MRT's tune is how they dont overfuel (smoke) and get that much power at the wheels even still...

Some say red is faster but this fast.... surely not :|

Impressive stuff. I'm glad it all worked out for Daryn. I think the MRT products will do very well, especially with the buy back option on any diesel chip :o

Greg,

I have posted what I have, dont have those curves that you speak of sorry. Maybe your tuner should speak with MRT in Sydney.

Chicky,

I had the first model DP, not as tuneable as the current and was not going to pay the price to upgrade even though there is no upgrade option, I was sick of taking it out and would prefer to have the security of the performance built into the ECU not after it. MRT are in Sydney and were able to dyno the truck and have mechanics and tuners on board for full support. ChipIt only have that available in Perth and I am not aware of any supposed dealer network for further support other than a sales office in Sydney.

ChipIt is a top product and is the best of the piggybacks in my opinion, I have not tried steinbauer so cant factor that in. ChipIt was also a great valued product for $365 when I bought it and at that price certainly delivered, all of my previous posts in regards to the good product that ChipIt is was based upon the $365 being factored in and for that reason was the best bang for buck and certainly left my Dp Chip for dead at $1300. Now, the ChipIt story and pricing has changed and requires bricking your engine to release and solve some power/fuel issues.

Daryn,
Seen your truck in Newcastle today ( 25/2/11). Looks great, love the front and rear bar work. Thinking of doing the same but having trouble finding a reputable dealer to do the job. Would like to know where you had it done and are you happy with it. I live on the Central Coast so not too far away from Newcastle. Thanks Robbes

Daryn, thanks for all the posting on your upgrades so far, and what a sweet ride you have got there. Love all the upgrades! :D So from what I can see the mrt upgrade has worked wonders for you. The only reason I asked you elsewhere about comprisons, is to see if I needed to upgrade to the mrt from the steinbauer. But I take it that yours is the 3.2. I have the 2.5, and from what I have seen on the mrt website, a 2.5 with the mrt was dyno'd in cairns at the same place I have been testing my stienbauer, and they seem to have very simular results in gains. I like the pro and cons of both systems, but have had the steinbauer for 20000 hard clicks now, without missing a beat. For you guys with the 3.2, shit it looks like it goes very hard and fast, so stick with it! :D You would even give us MN's a good go! ;) Plus I think the on board ecu upgrade would be a much safer and reliable method than your previos types. Very nice mate, Very nice! :D Thanks and happy motoring to you. Cheers.

Two changes this week:

1. Added the OzTrail Awning for $199 on special from BCF (Thanks BigGibbo for the tip)

2. Visited Ultimate today and had some front end work done, the Dobinsons coils have now gone and have been replaced with Ultimate Coils. The height has also been lowered down to the 570mm mark which gets me at the 50mm difference from front to rear.

Summary:

Awning, what a bargain.

Suspension, the new coils are a softer rate, the ride has improved with the edge of the bumps now gone. This was noticed straight away. But the confusing thing is that it actually corners even more level than before, which I think is great. This I think may be to do with the progressive nature of the new springs.

Even though I am now a bit lower than before I am looking for better droop off road now and the front not bouncing as much as before. Please no sag. :D

Hows things, been a while since you've recovered me
In the process of rigging up something similar in the back of mine with a ciggy lighter, anderson and hardwired lights. Was wondering what u had done here to split the current and fuse the lines cause you cant see any kind of fuse box or bus bar in the pic unless its behind the liner?

That link didnt work... its on page 3, the one of ur outlets

It has a fuse, 30amp I think under the bonnet, then every item that plugs into it basically has its own fuse, fridge, lights, air compressor, all have their own fuse. The fuse is usually built into the cig plug, the fridge is a push button reset one which is pretty cool, I had that converted to one.

So basically using inline fuses from the items themselves meant that wiring up was a pretty easy affair and is what you see.

Your needs could be totally different and may need the fuse box etc. I am currently doing that with the camping trailer.

Hope that helps Dave :)

Love the ute Daryn. Love the front bar. I'll have to take a closer look at the Sahara bar. Bloody expensive tho!

Do the ironman steps work as rocksliders as well?

At half the price of rock sliders I don't expect them to work as well. Never less they have never been an issue and offer far more protection than standard.

At 50% of the price I would actually say that they are excellent value and could be easily modified to offer better protection again.

I agree with Daz. The ironman steps offer great protection and at half the price of sliders they are a worthwhile addition. Mine have copped I few descent hits and are still in perfect shape. The only sign of damage is when you look at the under side.

How does the standard steps compare tho? Are ye saying the ironman is a lot better then no step, or a lot better then the standard step?

Much better then the standard steps. Standard are alloy and bend very easily. The ironman are steel.
