I wouldn't mind to have a copy of the drawings and am willing to pay for that. Rather give a local blacksmith here a good design than to try something myself.

Guys just had some news. Unfortunately for this engineer to build these he needs a Ute for 2 to 3 days to build tyhe first set. Then is will do 2 sets at a time but he is 6 weeks away from getting started due to other committments.

Also if he goes through with it he only wants cash. I will personally drive out to my original source & see what I can do about maybe supplying my ute but I am cannot afford to lose it for 3 days as I am a full time carer & I also have to pick up my daughter from school.

Wht is so hard to get reasonably priced sliders    surely someone should realise by making them reasonably priced they will sell a lot.

GLX-R, if you happen to make drawings, would you be prepared to share them...??? I am handy with a welder but inherently lazy when it comes to planning stuff from scratch... Perhaps if you come up with a simple, usable drawing, people may be happy to pay you in liquorland vouchers... I know I'd be more than happy to send a couple of slabs worth to avoid the pain of measuring, checking, re-measuring, cutting, tacking together, getting she shits on because this is taking all day, measuring again, kicking the welder, closing the roller door then sitting down for a Jimmy and a smoke and stepping over my half made sliders for the next six months every time I go out to feed the dog...

Guys,

I contacted Hugh from Hazzard engineering (as he has made some for a triton) as in the photos at the start of this thread.

The prices quoted included fitting so the sliders are a bit cheaper than the "quoted" $880.

He doesn't need your vehicle overnight (or for a few days) and I got quoted $160 for freight to my door in Brisbane (they are made in SA so I would think freight would come in around the same for everyone)

Sorry Guys, but we have all been talking about this for months and still haven't got anywhere.

These are photos of the sliders off the vehicle. The sliders are sandblasted, and powder coated.

Not affiliated or anything, just bringing up the fact that the alternative was at the start of the thread, may be a bit more expensive than the $500 hoping price (has anyone been able to get them at this price)

the only thing putting me off the hazzard ones is the mounting, I'm not really keen on having the mounting plate hanging below the chassis with a bolt going through. I can get a set made in vic all done and fitted for $1000 with the same mounting as brooksy's with the folded plate under the chassis & the bolt over the top by a pretty reputable custom shop in the same style as the cheezy racing ones. If any of the vic guys are interested I can find out about a bulk buy, the reason they are $1000 is because he hasn't done any tritons yet so needs to make up a template. So if there are a few it will be a little cheaper but probably not much.

Guys, Don't know if this topic is went somewhere or not over the last 3 months, but the topic of Brooksy's sliders is still sort of active on the new Hilux forum. I got Brooksy to measure up my rig for a group buy months ago and hope to catch up with him in January to get going again. Maybe after he does the Hilux ones, I might be able to convince him to tackle the Tritons. Seems very hard to get somebody to make a decent slider. I have a plan to try and get this moving a bit faster than it has, but still might take a while to get off the ground after the new year.

The real problem is that Brooksy has a full time job and has just had too much to do. He only wanted orders or 10 and got 50 so he was overwhelmed among his other commitments. Don't worry about the build quality though, full competition grade seamless steel that costs him about $16-$18 per metre....

Anyway, I'll let you know of any developments as they unfold.

Cheers
Rod

New years resolution - buy rock sliders.

If the price is $450 for a pair from Brooksy - you can count me in too. Im patient and happy to wait.

Would they be easy enough for a gumby like me to self install ? Im not good at drilling/cutting chasis metal.......Perhaps making it to use the same mounting points as the current steps? Not even sure if they are even mounted to the chassis - my triton hasnt even been delivered yet.... ;)

By the way - there is a post on the last page of the 4wdaction forum for the hilux thread (linked somewhere in this thread) that says Brooksy made a mistake and the sliders can only be fitted to truck that have had a lift due to the space required between the chasis and body. Is this going to be a factor for us ?

Im keen for chequered step too. Like this one :D I reckon everyone must be in for that surely !

Jop,

This may deserve its own thread.

How does the colour compare to the Bullbar ?

The $ saving could now actually very much sway me to go to from ARB bar/side steps to these now, if only the IM rear bar better protected the rear guards.
