Ralph, mine was like that when I got it, but I reckon its because the rear brake shoes were adjusted fairly tight ex factory. With no load on rear, it used to make the ABS kick in on slippery surfaces. Doing a few thou kms, & changing the tyres to something decent, made it really good, which it still is.
Sometimes, mine gets over 2.5 t behind it, which it tows better than what my last Landcruiser did. Still stops ok when loaded up, but IMHO - the brakes tend to lack 'feel' a bit.
Tip # 1 - Avoid stress & grief & low resale values with vehicles - do it once - do it right, buy a HILUX!!
