hey daryn hows your unifilter goin have you noticed anything at all ,better breathing ,power or better economy :?: is it worth getting one , what do the experts think about after market air filters, i have moto-x bikes so iam no stranger to oiling up an air filter 8-) , but do you get performance gains in our turbo diesels

I cant say that I feel as though there is extra power, to me it is more piece of mind that I have a quality filter in place, I clean it and service it, in other words I trust 'me'. You would like to think that nothing is going to get through this, just like with our better filters on our bikes. I have 5 filters for my 1 bike which are all ready to be dropped in at a moments notice, never had an issue with the bike, especially with valves, none.

As far as better performance and economy goes I don't notice a thing, I do notice big changes with the motor as soon as the weather cools down like now, 23 C and cooler and the truck definitely goes better. More looking forward to Chip and Snorkle for that stuff.

Just got told today by the service manager to watch how much oil you put on the Uni filter - same with the K&N. Apparently excess oil can migrate to the MAF sensor and at temperature will ignite on it - or scorch I suppose, causing MAF failure and subsequent replacement - no wty.

He reckons it happens on the Evo's and others as well.

Don't know if it is just the petrols, but it made sense and is worth remembering when oiling the little buggers.

the instructions with the unifilter state to squeeze excess oil out of the unifilter, they go onto say that the right amount of oil in the filter is when you squeeze a layer with two fingers and a little/light amount of oil is produced from the center of the layer.

I just put my unifilter in on tuesday and yesterday was the first chance I had to drive it & I noticed that in second gear when you get off the go fast pedal it sounds like a ricer bov "whhoooooooooooop tiishhh" Is this normal for other tritons running a unifilter?
I'm also running a boost controller but only running 15psi

Yes , my rig was already very throaty through the snorkel - but the unifilter made it twice as loud !
I still can't believe how much crap these filters collect - I do a fair bit of dirt driving - & routinely clean the foam filters every 3-4k km.
I'm sold on my unifilter -a great product & cheaper (in the long run) than the paper jobbies.
Cheers , Grant

I successfully managed to re-oil my unifilter yesterday...holy crap it was filthy!!

Still, all in all it was a very simple process....turps & oil. The oil is kinda like honey so it makes it easier to 'drizzle' onto the pieces of foam. ;) Nice & clean not over-oiled! :D

When I went to re-oil mine, I noticed on the instructions that there are 2 different ways to re-oil the filters. On the right hand side of the instructions, it mentions that for a filter with a prefix of "TT", to only use 2 cap fulls of oil and work it into both foam layers, rather than soak the whole thing & then try to remove the excess. Just thought it might be worth noting. See >>HERE<<

My triton was down on power, so i checked my unifilter - 1 month after install.

Found it filthy - i have done the straddie trip (fair bit of dirt/sand track convoy), crystalvale and the dust storm since installing.

While washing out the first stage filter panel, i got about 4 coke bottle caps of sand out of it (not visible before washing)

Not a drop in the second stage filter.

Pretty happy with the unifilter and will be changing the k&n filter in the pajero to a unifilter now.

 The only problem with them is forgetting to clean them. I haven't touched mine for maybe 4 months and it's over at Straddie now getting more sand in it.

Better rectify that I think.

The newhilux trip had 25 utes in convoy on some very dusty tracks - as in stop, cause i can't see anything in front of me

I had a freshly cleaned unifilter in at the start - by the end of the day my fuel economy had risen by 2l/100 due to the blocked filter (must take spare filter on trips ;) )

Checked air intake post filter, not a hint of dust - very happy.

Cleaned filter as soon as i got back, economy is back to 10 8-)
