Nicks Tuff Tourer with some new stuff for 2011

Postby Nick 08 on Mon Nov 30, 2009 8:16 pm

Gday
My names nick im 25 and i own a triton :D

So i have been on here a while and i thought i would start a build up thread as i am feeling bored tonight and the wifes away down in brisvagas for a few days so bring on the rums
Well i have owned the ute for a bout 18 months and its great for camping and work related stuff during the week. After having the ARB bar fitted when i took delivery and seeing how dodgy it was fitted and having to fix some of the wiring and fix the flares i decided that every other mod i would have a crack at fitting myself. So its been a good learning curve but i can say to people i fitted just about everything to my ute which has saved me a fair amount of molah

So the list goes

08 GLX R Triton

Current Exterior thingys stuff
-ARB bar C/C with fog lights
-3x IPF XS900 with blue covers 2 spot 1 spread
also upgraded phillips headlights and fog lights
-Rhino Racks
-ARB smooth canopy C/C one slider with dog guard one lift up and also lift up front window
-Ironman Sidesteps (just waiting to pick them up hopefully on thursday)
-Safari snorkel
-Resprayed rear end from work related painting accident so i had all the badges removed except
the diamonds i also took the flares off and had them colour coded when i had the other stuff sprayed and i have to say they look 200%better then plain old gray
-3m tint darkest legal did all the windows again so the backs pretty much blacked out looks good with the wheels though
-5x 16x8 20p Black King wheels with
-32 STT coopers
-2" Dobinsons lift with tailshaft spacer
-Extended Diff breathers (picking them up with the side steps)
-TJM bash plates
-Also i rust proofed it got to love spray on tar stuff when your covered in it :D

I thinks thats all for the outside
Now the inside things
Dual Battery system consisting of
Piranha Tray
Two sealed ACdelco batteries one n70 crank and One Deep cycle 75 amp/hr
200 amp VSR dual battery solenoid
Measured up main cables and had a sparky mate crimp the terminals on
About 15m of 6mm dual cable which took longer to route through everywhere than to wire it up
Lots of outlets in cab and tray
Autron dual battery gauge mounted under bluetooth buttons
Also just bought a fuse box and ill have a crack at that on the weekend so i don't have 10 cables coming of the terminals and to tidy up the engine bay a bit more
- GME TX 3340 mounted on trans tunnel behind cig plug
-JVC indash DVD and ipod stereo with jack in glove box also controlled thru the head unit
-Was Michelle Sacs Canvas seat covers but the wife kept complaining it felt like a dirty old work truck lol so had to change them to fitted 5 Star grey sheepskins From seat cover world and i actually like them they are extremely comfy
-Dash mat and was about the only thing the dealer thru in
-M Sacs dash organizer
-Rubber bucket mats all round which are the best when on the beach no sand in car all in the mats
-Engel wireless monitor
-Navman s60 GPS soon to be new Hema navigator i saw last week when its released in dec but im not telling the wife about that one hehe
In the back tray i have a couple of 12v plugs and an anderson
-Engel fridge slide with tie downs for 40l and two zone
-Clark rubber ute liner

Have some tmax recovery gear and hi lift with M sacs canvas cover
Also got 4 maxxtrax which got a good work at fraser recently unfortunately i didn't get stuck once it was all my mates in there toyotas and suzukis

oh well im off to bed
ill put some more pics up tomorrow stay tuned

nice truck mate - good typing effort as well. :D
This car is like a bad drug habit. It is taking all my money and time, my family are concerned, but new mods just feel sooooooo good.

Looks great champ, nice work...... :D
The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything important, it's too late to stop reading it.

Thanks guys for the comments
Steveo8 the iron man side steps i picked up for $540 and for the price there great and they match my wheels
the only thing you cant jack off them with a highlift probably with an exhaust jack you could but they flex a little bit
GLX-Rman the dobinsons suspension is 100% better over the stock little stiff in the tray with nothing in it but i have fridge and canopy and a half finished draw system now which i need to get around to finishing :D but i would highly recommend them i rang sydney and talked to a bloke said i got his no. off a couple of guys on this forum did me a really good deal

Heres a more recent pic just before christmas at work
Dash apart putting in the autron gauge cant believe the wiring in this thing pretty easy to install but a pain to run all the wires also put another 12v plug under the bluetooth controls while i was at it for the sat nav

Semi finished just have to put the dash back in i'm getting good at pulling it apart and back together

Got some good pics of a day trip we did to DI while i was down on the sunny coast for christmas just have to find the camera
also dropped into see my mates at maroochy car sound and got a new stereo which consists of 6" focal kevlar splits with titanium tweeters and crossovers also sound matted my doors acts like a box for the speaker and a two channel amp to run them under the pass seat would of had two focal buss1 10" subs fitted but being after christmas had none left so they are getting installed when im down the coast for aus long weekend :D
Then it will really pump lol

Bammo
Ill be putting two bus25's which are 10" behind the back seats they fit with a bit of trimming but you don't need all the custom work involved fitting regular subs and boxes. They look like this and come with their own amp built in hope this helps

Hey UAV the wheels had a little problem on the front passenger side rubbed slightly on the caliper i just ground a couple of mm of and repainted, my tyres don't scrub at all. Just booked in for a 60000km service dealer quoted $510 i'm paying $315 at ultratune work that out lol, also have a 3 inch exhaust getting fitted this week
as we bought a trackabout camper in march and two weeks on fraser makes you want more power :D for the soft stuff and towing.
Thanks for all the comments guys

Terrible when installers work on your ute like it`s not their own.

Wiring on my ute from various places was dodgy as. I had to rewire %90 of it.
Loose bolts on another fit up job caused $450 of paint damage.

Thanks for sharing your build up. Great reading.

Hey all just thought i would update my build, haven't done much lately been spending to much time and
money on the trackabout, new motorbikes  and renos.

Some things i have fitted in the last 6 months
-Front rhino racks and flat tray that i got powdercoated gloss black
-Rear H/D Rhino bars and internal cage (pain in the arse to fit ) all done in gloss black as well
-high lift and shovel holder on rear racks
-ARB 2.5 awning on some 50x5mm flat i bent up with the oxy which cost $0 :D
-Warn XD 9000 Winch
-Xray HID kit for the lights
-3inch S/S exhaust
-3 CHIP IT Chips and they still are shit now lives in box in the shed, waste of $800

Now ready for our 4 weeks in the queensland outback next month.

Thats about it till next time
