Will the unpopular leather make a comeback in the MN?

Postby gamblor on Wed Nov 04, 2009 3:01 pm

I've been filling out some insurance quotes and i keep notcing a listing for a GLX-R variant:

2009 MITSUBISHI TRITON GLX-R LUXURY MN MY10 2.5L DIESEL TURBO 4.

What does luxury mean in the MN triton is it just a GLX-R with accessories? Is it a leaked unannounced variant with leather for 2010?
Or have missed the plot all together?

BTW I don't want leather just curious to find out what this thing is.

I'd have leather in a second.

Hard wearing, stain resistant....heaps better than anything else and one thing I look for in an interior if possible. Even kids find it hard to damage it.
I hate to advocate drugs, sex, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they’ve always worked for me.

there is a demo MN Triton at Toowong Mitsubishi with GLX-R badged leather interior. Looks pretty good. I doubt they did just one for a Qld dealer, so it's probably a safe bet there is a luxury variant coming ....

I had leather in a Suzi Grand Vitara and found the sand and crap was pretty unkind to it and it took a bit of cleaning and looking after ... I reckon I'd stay with scotchguarded cloth or seat covers, but the new leather definitely looks the goods, and maybe the Suzi version was not as good.

Saw this leather replacement kit for the ML maybe they'll do an MN ...

Could make sense, in comparison my cloth seats cost a lot, are a bit coarse, and quite large.

Well I'm a leather disliker - mate has a tri with leather and they are stinking hot as in instant sweat in summer and I just can't seem to get comfy in them...

You're wearing clothes right mate? I only find I get sweaty in the wife's Kluger with leather when I'm driving it naked

When I bought my ML i looked at the GLS and i couldnt justify the extra $ for the leather... wasnt the best quality as far as im concerned, that being said i came out of a bmw with individual nappa leather ... i think im one of the few on here trying to make my triton into a luxo barge lol

a mate of mine with a Hilux (down Quinny down) paid an upholsterer about $1000 to change all his seats into leather from the original cloth - before he even took delivery.

So if leather is your thing :? then that may be the way to do it.
This car is like a bad drug habit. It is taking all my money and time, my family are concerned, but new mods just feel sooooooo good.

Leather, latex - as long as it's tight... Just don't put it on my seats...

my leather seats have held up nicely on a few road trips with the inlaws and neice and nephews. Soda spills, greasy chips, melted chocolate ( I hope it was melted chocolate) all wipe right up. I apply a leather conditioner and cleaner every month due to extreme temps. here. The great a/c keeps the seats from ever feeling hot or sticky.

I found the same sticky issue with my old leather interior (on a Grand Vitara tho' / with clothes on ) - I stick with cloth seats now and just soak the whole interior with the Scotchguard you can buy in spray cans - everything still pools on the cloth and wipes off ... but you do't get any of the start-up burnt back end. To each their own though ... the leather definitely looks nicer :)

How much do you pay for the leather seats? and also the MMS? I heard the MMS was $3000 which seems very steep.

Saw one with aftermarket leather in the showroom on Wednesday. Hopped into it and was certainly quite snug. Might see if it's still there on Tuesday and take a couple of pix.

Disregarding MMCS and Leather console lid, this is just a GLS with GLXR badging...

I reckon the MN leather would be better than the ML leather though...
