Guys, been wanting to start on these since the get go and i finally got some time today.I already riped off my steps and rear bar a while ago, and i wanted to replace them with stainless steel steps and sliders.Once ive got it all done i'll neaten everything up and turn it into an article if anyone wants to go down the same path. So here we go.
heres the mounting brackets- theyre 40x5mm stainless angle-ive chamfered off the corner to get a flush fit against the existing body mounts
this is the 'step' part of the fabrication- ive used 76.0mm stainless tube for this. i've had my company logo laser marked on the tube for some subtle advertising. bad part of this is the laser marking can only handle 800mm long so i had to join and repolish the tube- thats a time killer.
this is a close up of the laser marking- when finished the logo will be to the front side of the rear wheel arch.
this is the 'slider' part of the job. its 50mm stainless. ive mitred the cuts so theres no snag point on the front.
Heres the sliders with the ends capped off and the mounts trial fitted.i've left it tonight with the step temp mounted along side the slider. hopfully i can get this tacked up tomorrow
